Last month I found out they had issued a recall on my ancient, scratched to hell, 4GB 1st gen ipod nano, for a battery defect. The thing had long been relegated to the "project drawer" in my house, considering the headphone jack was completely fucked, so I was going to practice soldering on it one of these days.
According to a couple different sites, Apple was replacing them with unused 5-year old nanos of equivalent capacity. Not that impressive by today's standards, but hey, not a bad exchange for my broken piece of shit, right? Filled out a form, shipped it off in a prepaid mailer the week before xmas, and just received a BRAND NEW 6TH GEN NANO! Holy crap this thing is cool. 24 hour battery (vs. 12 on my old one) twice the capacity, multi-touch screen, etc. A very nice surprise indeed.

Nice man. I had one of those old school Ipods, 8 gig, had to get rid of it when I moved to satisfy a roomate for rent.
Anyways, new roomate had an extra Zune, and it's a total piece of shit. Headphones plug in at the top rather than the bottom, getting music on it is a pain, and it crashes all the time. Basically it sucks, don't buy one. Long story short, good on you, I think the Ipod is the only worthwhile piece of hardware Apple has made, can't wait to get another.

i got my ipod upgraded to a video 30gb years ago when my something or other ipod broke
it still works and i use it every day. had the battery replaced a while ago because it was getting old, but that is something that should be done every 3 years anyway. i think i have had this particular one for almost 5 years now

The Apple Store in Salem, NH, has always gone above and beyond for me, on several occasions when they had every right not to.
And anyone who says that an iPod is "the only worth while piece of equipment Apple makes has never used an Apple computer for any length of time over the past 5 years. OSX wipes the floor with ALL other OS I've used. Windows 7 is not even close to OSX's brilliant GUI.

I have both. Have had them both since a little after 7 came out. Lion destroys 7 hands down. i know people will flame, but thats just my opinion.
also, about 8 months ago my daughter pissed on my macbook pro (she was potty training and i had set it on the floor while i went to the other room for water) so i turned it off and cleaned it. I had been fighting it in various ways since then (it would have exploded if it were a PC no doubt). Then I remembered i payed for the black tie protection from best buy. I'm going to best buy in a couple days to pick out a brand new computer of similar price. Win. tl;dr daughter pissed on macbook pro, getting replaced for free. also osx>windows

eh, i love my apple products but i dont find a need to express this in any way.
i like windows for certain things like gaming but i like osx for everything else. i find that apple has some awesome customer service and will often do things just to keep you as a customer or so you have a good experience.

I have it partitioned and bootcamped on my MBP and W7 runs fine. It's the GUI that still sucks. Sorry you don't know better. Windows users tend to like cluttered pieces of shit, I've noticed over the years.
I use shitty XP all day at work. :/

Windows allows for the ability to make things as uncluttered or cluttered as you want them to be.
Loading up all the programs for my game development requires just a few clicks to get going. You just have to take the tiny bit of effort to organize it properly.

Post-purchase rationalization is a cognitive bias whereby someone who purchases an expensive product or service overlooks any faults or defects in order to justify their purchase. It is a special case of choice-supportive bias.

Yeah, I like how Wellf bangs on about how he can Bootcamp Windows on his superior GUI, completely neglecting the fact that he could rip the OS X GUI onto Windows and have the best of both worlds.
