Costa Concordia sank, I cruised in it in 2008!

wow! I just saw the cruise ship Costa Concordia sank. My wife and I took 12 cruise in the mediterranean in 2008, it really feels odd that to have been in a ship that sunk.

BTW, hello to everybody and I ´ll try to be more present here.

peace, Wirikuta

Wow!

My Grama told me a story about how she wouldn't go across this train bridge once in Northern PA. Like 10 years after she was there it fell down in some massive storm. So we were talking on the phone and she tells me about out... 'I am really glad I didn't ride on that thing!'

Ok Grama

Your story is more like a loss of a memory, like when the house you grew up in gets torn down or something?

Not like paranoia... funny ole' Grama

Yeah I heard about this. Read a couple articles on it. Seems the whole situation and the way it was handled by the crew was completely retarded.

Fortunately the vast majority of the 4000+ people on board survived.

The captain of the 4,200-pasenger luxury cruise ship that ran aground off the coast of Tuscany has been arrested, police said Saturday.

Francesco Schettino is being investigated for manslaughter, causing a shipwreck and abandoning ship, police said, according to Reuters. He was taken to a jail in the provincial capital Grosseto to await questioning by a magistrate.

At least three people died in the accident and about 40 people are still unaccounted for, revised downward from 70 earlier in the day.

A U.S. State Department official says the latest estimate is that there were 126 Americans among the 4,200-plus people aboard the Costa Concordia. No Americans were injured, the official said.

This is the second fatal accident involving a Costa ship in the past two years. In February 2010, Costa Europa collided with a pier in Egypt, killing three crewmembers.

American news.

I read somewhere the ship cost 670 something million bucks to build.

I'm guessing that captain just fubar-ed his sailing career.
Seriously the ships have radar, sonar and sail routes that have been navigated hundreds or thousands of times.

DUI ?

It comes across as inconsiderate when you focus on how many people of a specific culture died, instead of people in general.

I could give a fuck if you think I'm a douchebag. I've got my principals set on a good path.

you know, when we did the cruise we ate like normal ppl, breakfast, lunch and a fancy dinner, but food is everywhere, buffets, pizzas, cakes, ice cream machines running 24/7 midnight buffet, all day room service, you name it. most of the ppl was piging out big time, and many were BIG.

at our dinner table we shared with a family and a gay couple, very nice ppl, BUT I remember one lady arriving and saying something like "I had all the food I could eat and I am stuffed, but one way or the other I´m gonna eat dinner and later I´m going after the midnight buffet."

it must be very dificult to move swiftly in an emergency situation if you are so overweight and out of shape.

peace, Wirikuta

^ My son went on a cruise around the mexican coastal area.

When they were in port(s) he said it was great, but when at sea he said there was constant hounding to buy tours and "packages".

anything similar ?

As a result he's decided to fly to mexico direct, for his honeymoon (July 27th wedding), rather than going on a cruise as they had originally planned.

ah ok.

He's getting married in Pittsburgh.

I'd have to agree that going away from friends and family to get married would be pretty bizzare.

it is like that man, they try to sell you everything, to tell you the truth my wife and I are more adventorous, we like hiking, going to places and mingle with the locals, eat what the locals eat, see ruins and the like, cruises are ok, but I dont think we´ll do another, to touristy for our taste.

where en Mexico are they traveling?
