After seeing the episode of Family Guy where Peter gets called for jury duty I started wondering: What actually happens if you ignore the letter?

Are you guys bound by law to show up, or is it more on a volunteer basis?

Pretty voluntary. In fact, most yahookans would probably be dismissed as a juror if they report for jury duty.

well, being the dummy i am. i was dumb enough to fill out the form and send it back last time i got one. its my understanding that if you dont send that back they really have no way of proving you recieved notice and cant do anything to you. but because i sent it back, they knew i got it. so if i didnt call in on the days they told me to i could face problems. but luckily i did not get called.

Any time the phone rings and there is even a slight pause, I hang up. A friend will call back...an autodialer will not (not immediately anyway.)

I get free *69 so it's not hard to tell who is calling, and I know everyone's number who should/would be calling.

Also when a warrant is issued you won't know until , you're arrested/stopped for some other infraction, or the warrant is being served, by cops.
"officers" don't call on the phone...they call at your door.

And they are police officers not "officers of the court".

wow. i've actually never been called for jury duty (probably because i've only been in the same state for 2 years or less since I graduated high school)

as far as a i know, you must be notified of the fact that you have a warrant by mail. i guess if you do something really bad the mail gets deliverd by a man with a badge lol

long time ago as a surveyor, I was asked by an engineer to assist in calculating the angle/direction of bullets from the 8 holes they left in walls and woodwork...in a bar room shooting/shootout.

that was interesting.

never did do jury duty, but I've not lived long enough in one place to have been contacted for it

There was a time I thought it would be pretty cool to sit on a jury. Never was called, despite I was in all the proper pools. My ex-husband, on the other hand, got 3 summons and isn't even an American citizen. My daughter got a summons when she was in prison. Go figure!

last time i went, the court next to us, the plaintiff was missing half his face, everything from the bridge of his nose downward was gone..can you imagine sitting on a jury and looking at that poor guy all day? i bet they settled that case
