Give your eyes a break... try F.lux !

F.lux: software to make your life better

Quote:
Ever notice how people texting at night have that eerie blue glow?

Or wake up ready to write down the Next Great Idea, and get blinded by your computer screen?

During the day, computer screens look good—they're designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn't be looking at the sun.

F.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.

It's even possible that you're staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.

f.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again.

Tell f.lux what kind of lighting you have, and where you live. Then forget about it. F.lux will do the rest, automatically.
What a great application! I noticed my eyes relaxing almost immediately... had to share it with 'yall!

Being that I'm of a rare variety of hyper genius, a rather unique combination of prime archetypes and complex resonance configurations, I've already been doing this with presets configured on my system for years.

But I thank you, cerp, for making these other guys happy. And thus, I am happy.

^It automatically adjusts as it goes from day to night, although you can manually adjust it yourself.

i used it last night, and i guess its on right now, but its day so everything looks normal.

i had to turn up the night time setting slightly, it was a little too yellow looking

i have my night setting at 3700k, its not too noticeable until you turn it back to normal and get blinded.

I used it alot when i was learning latex. It's not so hot when i'm watching videos on the flatscreen. I use the computer for too many colorsensitive things to make this a viable solution. but yeh, great little app. I still use it for homework sessions.

you can just turn it off when doing colour sensitive things. it even has a feature to disable for 1 hour.

I wish i knew how to execute certain commands when i start certain programs. Then I could script that function and be done with it.
