Well if anyone wants they can stay at my house... I have a trail head 10 miles away. I grow up hiking on the Appalachian Trail, and Long Path.

Galt's Guide to Safely Enjoying te Splendors of Mother Nature
Nah not really. All jokes aside, there have been a lot of assaults and robberies along the high traffic sections in the Mid Atlantic where it runs close to easy public access. The bullshit that requires you to travel naked makes it an even higher percentage game for the baddies, and there ain't a whole lot of cops or spy cams out in the woods. Not sayin' be a pussy, just sayin' don't be a dope. Maintain situational awareness, and always have a plan and a back-up. I always try to maintain a low profile, keep plenty of distance between us and anyone else on the trail. I never share a shelter with or stay near strangers. Always look for off trail natural camo, and fuck the rules - I know how to leave without a trace, so they can suck my big fat dick!
Always remember: Better to be judged by 12. If you're not firing, you're re-loading. If you're not firing or re-loading you are moving to cover. An aggressor should only be able to approach you through a hail of lead. That way, even if they manage to get your weapon, they'll have to beat you with it, 'cuz you will be out of ammo. Of course in that case you should be the one doin' the beating. Never tell someone "I have a gun". The first thing they should hear is the sound of your safety snicking off (unless you carry a P-7 or a Glock) then move right on to the second thing that they should hear. The second thing that they hear should be their inner ear detecting the impact of the first projectile and the on-rush of the hydraulic shock as it tears bone and tissue asunder (unless you're firing sub-sonic rounds, in which case they may live to actually hear the gun report). Never let anyone within arms reach. Never point a weapon at something that either isn't dead already, or you don't intend to make dead in the immediate future. If you're going to own or carry a firearm, the time to ponder the taking of life is before the occasion arises. It ain't for everybody, but the bad guys already know that, and it doesn't bother them one bit. Baddies know that when threatened, most people will flee or freeze, unless trained to do otherwise. They come prepared, so you should too. Practice everything strong hand and weak, eyes open and closed. Unless you shoot Mag Safe Ammo, one shot is probably just a wound, so don't turn your back, and don't assume an attacker is dead or disabled. If you are sure that there aren't more, two to the head is a lot quicker and surer than a live witness and a civil suit. The best way to check for a pulse on a wounded assailant is to empty a mag into their chest and head. Remember the arms length rule - it's especially important when they are wounded. A man with a drawn knife will kill you if he's within ten feet and you haven't already drawn your weapon. It's just math and physics. The police are NEVER your friend, and they NEVER help shit. The only justice you'll ever see in this world is what you can buy, or what you can provide for yourself. There is never anything that you can say to LEO that will do anything but hurt you, so SHUT THE FUCK UP! Not that I've got very strong feelings on the subject. ![]() Hey Geeno, I just read that back, and I was wonderin'... if you didn't know that the Uni-bomber was already in the Feral pen, could you see yourself thinking it was me? ![]()

wow, galt takes my happy friendly hiking thread and turns it into combat advice. fucking jackass.
ok so if fender is for real about taking the last leg up to kahtadin, we'll have to split up Maine. I'm thinking we might not have enough people to actually hike the whole thing so chunks will have to be driven, so I'll do part of the Vermont section, then hopefully meet up with fender who can take the last leg, pretty much just within baxter. I'm assuming you don't wanna do the 100 mile wilderness but correct me if Im wrong. adventure, maybe you could do part of the upstate trail and then meet me somewhere in western MA? |

![]() If it's any consolation... I meant it as happy friendly combat advise.
