need some suggestions for a nice watch
so i want to buy a watch, but i know almost nothing about watches.
and rather than ask google, i figured id ask yahooka. ladies, gents, tell me something about nice watches. like, for starters, do u like metal bands or leather bands better, and why? it would seem like metal would look better but leather would be more comfortable? that about right? also some good suggestions would be much appreciated. im thinking 100-200 dollar range, but if i could find a nice one for less that would definately be okey dokey! help a watch virgin ! |

Yes there are metal watches with elastic, but that's a lowbrow move.
Get a decent metal watch, and get the links fitted. I wear this watch: ![]() Comparatively cheap and very durable, being in IT my hands are in all sorts of metal. This thing barely has any scratches and i've had it for years. Free battery replacements for life as well.

like what are the benchmark prices? something over a few hundred ? or a thousand? or what ? is seiko a mid range ? and what about citizen? actually im seeing some really nice burberry ones but those are about 500. dunno if i want to spend that much on my first watch. how do u decide if u want metal or rubber/leather strap? i would think non-metal would look unprofessional, is that ignant? |

I've got one of these, I thought it was a nice standard watch, not too cheap not too expensive.

Daily wear? If so is it gonna be bumped banged etc alot?
I like metal bands personally. more secure feeling imo..

Why not just use a cellphone?
![]() I thought watches had gone the way of suspenders and orgone boxes.

To me, it is a fashion statement. It is probably the only single function device I have. Plus it's still a lot easier flicking your wrist than fishing for your phone, as people without watches constantly ask me what the time is.

Now that you mention it I actually wouldn't mind owning an orgone box.
