Society , Beer/Alcohol = Great, Amazing, Social, Awesome. Pot= horrible, antisocial, degenerates, illegal

Can someone please explain this to me?

When you spend too much time in the normal world, you start to see so much alcohol propaganda its just amazing to me.

People put pictures on facebook of all manner of crazy drinking, all sayings and bulshit, "get this man a beer" or show me a picture of a huge stein like 2 feet tall and 1,000 people like it. funnels and chugging vodka and all sorts of other ridiculous shit.

And then a quiet bowl to yourself once in a while is like such a terrible horrible thing that when michael phelps was caught smoking a bong he had to apologize for years and lose sponsorships and shit...

I guess its times like this when I realize that thats one of the great things about yahooka- its a place online where most people are "sane" imo as opposed to the "insane" people out there who glorify sick shit like alcohol.

I dont mind a glass of wine or a beer on occasion. But all these people who get all pumped up about drinking and treat it is a such an amazing thing. a thing that virile type a men just MUST LOVE!!!! WOOT!! its fucking strange to me and the hypocrisy of it makes me almost sick to my stomach ...

can anyone say anything to make me feel better about this?

Alcohol. White people make money.

Pot. Brown people make money.

Dude, the people in the know realize alcohol is evil and weed is harmless. Times are changing now all the old folk who are anti-pot are dieing off and I suspect within 10-20 years weed will be legal nationwide.

I drink all the time and it has caused me more problems with the law and family I can't keep track anymore. I don't smoke as much as I used to because I refuse to buy weed from "dealers" unless it's someone I know who grew it themselves because I do not want to contribute to the drug trade..aka cartels.

I throw a few seeds out every year and if it grows females GREAT if it doesn't oh well.

If Sanjay says it's OK it must be good, right?

The way I see it, if there were special "weed bars" in every state just like there are pubs and bars and such, then folks would see it as a social thing. However, we got these fucked up laws, so we have to sit in our homes away from the law and toke. If you come to my state, or places like California you will see little weed bars in or near dispensaries and except for the smell you'd think the folks were enjoying happy hour.

Hell, I spent my entire high school and college career socializing around the herb. Doesn't surprise me that the alcohol propaganda machine pays people like Dr. Drew to come out and tell us "Oh no, weed will make you reclusive and antisocial. It's fine as medicine, but recreation? Heavens no". When you know the truth regarding marijuana, its very obvious that it could relegate the alcohol industry into a niche market, and possibly reduce Big Tobacco's share even further.

It's funny because I know the cause and effect of alcohol on people good and bad. Good people can do bad things. I don't care who you are and I commute everyday back and fourth to work far and see these huge huge buildings up in every town everywhere...reminds me of Conan the Barbarian and the snake towers. I live in the smallest town you could imagigine and we have the largest lcbo because its the cross point for where the tourists heading up to cottage country. It's like having a huge gigantic drug pusher in every town basically it's kinda sad, it's okay we like it.
But it's really bad for stupid people lol.

I've been saying for years how short a memory this government has. Nobody learned anything from the Prohibition Act of 1919? All that did was jump-start Organized Crime & made some people multi-millionaires (old man Kennedy for 1)...bringing booze in from Canada. Society will always want their substances to relax after work. Lord knows I do & I don't work.
If the govt legalized weed & sold it in liquor stores to people 21+ (or 18+...I don't care), the feds would make a fortune taxing it, putting tobacco farmers back-to-work growing cannabis. Of course, they'd need fences around their fields or the pilfering would be relentless. Street gangs would lose a source of revenue. The DEA could back-off the weed smokers & concentrate on more important issues.
It's a win/win situation & I really can't understand the hold-up on just legalizing the plant. Governments would start making money hand-over-fist. The cartels would lose 1 substance to traffic, at least. I'm wondering why more people from my generation haven't gone to bat for ending this nonsense. Most of the politicians are Baby Boomers now & if any generation knows how harmless cannabis is, it's ours. Problem there is they get elected...discover what a gravy job they've got...the easy $$$...& they don't want to rock-the-boat with new & controversial ideas. Put in their 4-8 yrs...retire with 1 helluva pension...& nothing gets accomplished. Sad as hell!!

I always thought once the boomers got into office, things would change, too. However, politics isn't what's right, it's about what side of your bread the butter's on.

Of course they were. 90% of the people I smoked with in my 20's don't smoke anymore and they're indifferent as to whether it should be legalized. I'm 58. So by the time the young people of any generation are old enough to be in a position to exact any change regarding marijuana's legalization, they no longer indulge nor care much.

I don't dislike you, I only disagree with what you say because you are always wrong.

And hopefully no.

Thanks everybody. Its great and refreshing to come back and find that lots of people have done my reasoning for me- I especially like Turmaline's talk about the utter absurdity and hypocrisy of all the "drinking establishments" that dot every town, village, hell...every fucking dirt road in america... (or canada).

Im just glad to see that so many of you have the same exact feelings as me on this- and have even more different and creative ways of thinking about how ridiculous and unfair and just plain stupid it is-

you're glad that people on a pot forum have the same feelings as you in regards to the absurdity of its legal status?

I think your actually just glad that you finally found something that you can agree with people here on.

LCBO- Liquor Control Board of Ontario.
We have You- Brews out here on the West Coast where you can brew up giant batches of any flavor beer or wine for about 1/2 the cost. There is a pub/citizen ratio of about 1 per 3000 people here...plus all pubs have cold beer/ liquor stores for off sales , 7 days per week.
Vancouver is also Canada's weed capital.
We have a lot of fucked up people walking the streets here

Ya I cant remember what its called down east... just the liquor control board I think?

LCBO is Ontario specific.

And yea, Terry, your post made me laugh because I've wondered in the past if foreigners wondered about that haha.
