usually you can tell a few days after you kick in flowering, but sometimes if a plant is really mature it will start showing even during veg. lighting.
you can tell by looking at the nodes carefully, where the branches come out from the leaves. the signs of gender will usually show up first on the 5th or 6th node on your main stem.. you will see a teeny little green spade-shaped ball beginning to form.. if there is only one of those, you probly have a girl. eventually it will pop a little hair out and let you know for sure. if you see a few of those little balls, kind of clustering together, you have the beginnings of male pollen sacs, and bad luck its pretty easy to identify.. teh major difference is with a girl youll be able to see little hairs poppin out, but girls usually show up after guys, so dont kill one just cause theres no hairs yet! if you see clusters of those balls, you know for sure its a male and you should probly kill it, unless you have other plans for it.
