I use to be a happy security guard/maintenance worker/nighttime receptionist at an old age home. Now I'm a sad, angry landscaper. i work alone now.
usually get $20-30 a lawn which usually takes me an hour to an hour and a half to cut. I normally only work like 2-4 days out of the week though which is nice. 6 lawns a day on average... decent to me Payed in cash it adds up quite nicely, but i have to pay for the gas which sucks and i have to use my own mower. but it's a mulching type.

it fucking sucks though. really starting to get fed up with it. too much repetitive movement involved which frustrates me a lot.

i fucked up i guess on the interview for a worker at a newspaper print shop job like a month ago. ima have to learn a real trade soon and get shit rolling cuz my life is heading downhill fast as of late. wish me luck

I hate when people say that. This is the fucking internet, man. People are allowed to have differing opinions and go hard in the paint every once in a while. He's probably not angry at all. Maybe he has a smile on his face while he listens to his favorite music drinking a beer...Not everyone has to suck each others dick here, and if you can't lash out while maintaining some sort of semi-anonymity, then this isn't the America I knew.

Save for upgrading equipment, start working 5-6 days a week and eventually start your own business. Landscaping is ideal work imo.

I think all that job interview advice stuff is helpful, but shouldn't be taken too seriously. I mean, if only people who conveyed confidence, had good knowledge of the company and were warm and personable got hired, you wouldn't have all the shitty cutthroat office politics and crap at work. You wouldn't have the humorless assholes and the gossipy assholes and conniving assholes.

The process is just as human as all the other human interactions out there, and getting the job probably has more to do with what kind of day you and your prospective employer are having than whether you touch your face or not.

It's a guideline.

Your chances of being hired diminish if you're mopey, disheveled, and disengaging.

Doesn't say anything about what your real personality is.

the real trick is getting an interview, which either involves being amazing or else networking

I am really good at interviews. I can't remember a time when I went in for an interview and didn't get the job.

Well look at you superhumans.

Why not just keep interviewing for higher and higher positions then?

5 years ago I had an idea.

Every year I've moved closer,
gaining experience to take the next step to be able to do it.

After moving back to the States,
I looked for two weeks....
I found the job I thought of.
And I was ready and able to do it finally.

I am growing plants, helping kids and have a flexible schedule.

Satisfaction and richness is my way...
My heights and measure of success.

I don't know what is 'higher' than that.

#1 protip to getting a job: have a good reference. being able to say so-and-so told me about the job, said I'd be a good fit sits so much better than, well i need money and i heard you pay money and i applied everywhere that pays money.

Also if you pee on the bosses desk it lets them know that you think outside the box.

Bleh. I see an interview as something either that you can only bomb/screw up or the interviewer hasn't received the eventual flood of applications in yet (and someone more experienced will eventually come along).

I threatened the hiring manager at one place before I got an interview once, and they hired me. Why? Because they needed someone. No one else was applying apparently. During the interview they must have concluded I was only partially psycho.
