I had a kidney stone attack over Xmas. Ended up in the hospital on morphine for 2 days.(Great stuff). CT scan, X ray, Ultra sound, meds and hospital bed for about 36 hours.
Had to buy my own starbucks.
Love the Canadian medical system. Of all the western civilized? countries, only the U.S. charges it's taxpayers to stay healthy.

It's amazing how resistant the average US citizen is towards something like canada's healthcare system.

I actually had a coworker start to shout and eventually get too upset to talk when I told him that single payer was a vastly superior system.

actual quote "Canadians have to wait two months for surgery!" from a guy who has had cancer and has it again... and has been waiting over 2000 years for a dead guy to return to life to save humanity.

But with that said... I have no idea what you're trying to say with that last sentence.

And also hella props to Silverleaf for helping me pick my new insurance plan.

A bunch of coworkers were talking about how the top tier plan was a scam because of all the potentially partial pay responsibility. I pointed out to them that the lower tier plans imply that insurance fully pays only what they agree to.

So my new plan I may be responsible for 30% of certain procedures, but with theirs they may be responsible for 100%. If UHC decides they dont want to cover Bobs blood test, he's stuck. If they decide they don't want to cover mine, I'm only stuck with a portion.

It's too early for me to use the correct terms to describe exactly how they worded it, but basically its like this: If niggas dont speak the insurance language, insurance might eat a nigga food.

And I'm not trying to toot my own horn here but if I barely grasp a lot of insurance concepts even with the help of an insider, I can only imagine that the majority of people have no fucking prayer of truly understanding it.

I had a bill for $2013.00 from the gas passer and Blue Cross bargained it down to $135.89. So if I didn't have insurance the hospital could have screwed me royally for what amounted to a single shot into my IV tube. I think that was what Slunt was alluding to.

Canadians still have to have dental and eye insurance but it's pretty rare where that becomes a life or death situation. I waited 4 months for my Carpal Tunnel surgery after it was diagnosed. Is that a long wait for free surgery??
The govt. here insidiously takes taxes from your cheque a little at a time over your entire taxpayer life to pay for the system. It's painless but in the long run probably equals some of the costs in the US system. Pay now or pay later but somebody eventually gets your dough.

Had a co-worker, with a husband and two teenagers and she was dropping nearly a G a month for med and dental through work, and that was with the place paying half.

Does Canada let you choose your own doctor(s) &/or hospital? Or is 1 assigned to the individual?

I just bought this for my mom's 100th birthday today. She passed away 20 yrs ago, so I guess I'll keep it.

Spyderco Police 3 G-10 (serrated & sharp as a razor).
