Hey well at least you tried. Maybe try that Rosetta Stone when you have free time.Hope all turns out well moket

ive been working in a newspaper printing factory for the past 2-3 months. I sort of want to quit but im broke and need $ bad. 7 to 8 hours just standing in front of a machine pumping out bundles of papers i have to re-bundle and then having to walk all over this massive, loud shop loading the newspapers onto this wheelbarrow thingie and then loading the bundles into this big rig. It's decent pay to me, almost $20 an hour but not being able to sit for no longer than 15 minutes within 8 hours really sucks. Im also a landscaper in the summer(im always getting cuts, thorn pricks nd sunburn when the heat is 90ish degrees Farenheight which is when everyone seems to want me to cut.
I pick up leaves in the autumn for a few old folks which makes my back soar as fuck and I use a snow blower in the winter ($10 a house walkway and drivewa)yfor the same people for .

Life is getting better for me it seems, I just try to stay busy doing odd jobs n such and i've never had this much money in my life

going to get some certs soon, might as well since I'm in the business. A+, Security+ and go from there.

Very bummed that the season has started out slow. Last year I started building fences with my uncle in february and it was nonstop until september, with enough intermittent work to keep me afloat and busy.

It's a great job working for 2 people I know. I can't deal with the bullshit in our society. No way could I work on a typical construction crew with that ex-con type or the phaggots (mostly women) in office settings.

Couldn't pull it off. But if shit doesn't pick up here soon I am going to straight up leave America and become a peasant somewhere. I want the simple life. I don't need tv, computers or technology. In fact I'd be happier in a world with less technology where money and image mean less.

I never would have imagined the amount of mechanical equipment that is defective. I swear the amount of commercial hvac and refrigeration units that is shipped out with some sort of serious defect has got to be 10% at the lowest from some manufacturers and possibly over 50 with others. It's not even faulty/defective parts as much as it is poorly assembled.

It's such a pain in the ass. But its also job security.

Being one of the only guys on the crew who isn't afraid of being on the top of the scaffold tower when building or tearing down has its pros and cons. Sucks having to risk my life for the boss though. Other than that, construction is alright. Pay is good, I just hope I don't get injured, with my pot habit and all.

And to hell with your comment, sok about ex cons on the crew. I like the fact most companies don't discriminate against people who can work.

It's probably a good thing you don't want to work on a real job site, you wouldn't last through first break with your attitude.

You guys are way too sensitive. I already make long posts and they aren't going to be any longer explaining my labels. The 'white trash' comment was referring to lower class whites in the 1800's who had difficulty finding work in the south unless they took even more brutal and dangerous jobs than farming.

Lay off the weed and other substances in order to not be so damn offended. I don't like people and the interpersonal drama that goes down all the time. That's why I like working with familiar people. We just fucking work. There is no bullshit that I keep hearing about. Everyone's office or field drama makes me happy with my job if only it would pick up.

The people I work with are usually the best part of my job. Ex-con types are the best. Its the still con types that you have to watch out for. Also the never con types.

Turns out the problem with that one unit was not only schrader valves inside fittings attatched to hoses without schrader depressors, but the hoses were attached at the wrong spots and to top it off the solenoid coil was defective. The solenoid valve itself was fine but the coil that was on it wouldn't energize even though it had the correct voltage. First time I've seen that. Feels good to fix things.

Do you have to do any inserting too? Like putting each advertising flyer into the newspaper? Or do you have a machine that does that, but jams up every 5-10 minutes?
I'm retired now, but worked at a newspaper for 25+ yrs. Started at The Rocky Mtn News in Denver, then moved to NC & worked at the local newspaper here in Pinehurst. I was with the Transportation Dept at The Rocky Mtn News & delivered the bundles to the paperboys' homes in the middle of the night...driving 1 of those panel trucks. Teamster shop & was pulling down $11/hr in the late 1970s. Probably my best job...great crew...went to work at 1 a.m. & worked until about 8 a.m.
Moved to NC to be close to my aging parents in 1984 & Teamster shops were nowhere in the South. Landed a job as Circulation Director at the local newspaper & even with the title, didn't make $11/hr. Just had more headaches as a 'manager' & am very happy to be retired.
I'm surprised you still have a newspaper job, as the Internet has put a major dent in that line-of-work. Yeah, you're on your feet most of the time, but it goes by quickly when staying busy. I know circulation numbers are down across-the-board, so you're lucky to still have a newspaper job nowadays.
It's a real cast-of-characters at any newspaper, but usually a fun time can be had by all!!

I work in a warehouse full of iPhones and other Apple crap, right now. I go in at 4am, and check orders going out for accuracy until my 8 hours are up. All day with an RF gun. Beep, beep, beep... It only pays $11/hr., too, so I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me.

Recently, I went to both my manager and the Director of Operations to complain that the totes we inspect are too heavy, and present a safety hazard. I was not the first. Nothing changed, and someone on my team got hurt. They followed this up with additional training on how to lift properly, and an assurance that if anyone else got hurt, it would be on them, because they were shown the right way to lift. First thing they think of is to cover their own liability, not the fact that their unwillingness to act got someone hurt.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Need a new job, but it's hard. We only have one car, so I have to rely on my bike quite a bit to get to work, and that means I have to work close by. I'll get there, tho. It's just a numbers game.

There's been a lot of talk on NPR lately about hospitals buying or not buying equipment to lift heavy patients, and how lifting techniques are bullshit. By bullshit I mean only effective to a point.

They discussed that co-lifting is actually more hazardous than single lifting since it creates sheer force vs compression force. Pretty interesting stuff but im having trouble finding the specific article.

I'd be grateful if I had the job. Are the totes over 90 lbs? We recently started using the 90 lb bags of concrete.

But I guarantee they wouldn't hire me. Because no one feels obliged to hire a young white male out of sympathy...I'm public enemy #1 since I don't have a flashy resume.
