Nostalgia

It's a hell of a drug. What are some things you get to reminiscing about?

Slow walk
It's land mine
It's coal mine
It's a bad thought
On the way to god don't know

My brain's the burger and my heart's the coal
I'm trying to get my head clear
I push things out through my mouth I get refilled through my ears
I'm on my way to god don't know or even care

My brain's the weak heart, and my heart's the long stairs
Inland from Vancouver shore
The ravens and the seagulls push each other inward and outward
Inward and outward

In this place that I call home
My brain's the cliff, and my heart's the bitter buffalo
My heart's the bitter buffalo
We tore one down, and erected another there

The match of the century, absence versus thin air
On the way to god don't know
My brain's the burger and my heart's the coal
On this life that we call home
The years go fast and the days go so slow

Shit, I'm old. I reminisce about everything. Concerts, places, people, trouble and near misses.

Driving through Utah was exceptional.

Oakland A's stadium during the baseball strike was very cool. I found a left handed 1st baseman's glove in my hand. Took it home and my Dad told me the guy had the worst stats in the league.

I'm so glad I took the time to do things.

Sometimes it's the only drug that gets me through. Mostly just memories I play out, but IDK. Songs I haven't heard in a while, places, whatever.

Before my life went to shit.

Also, fuck you guys.

Nostalgia really hurts when I'm staying off the drugs.

Also I get a feeling that I can only describe as nostalgia when I visit certain "quaint" American towns, towns that I have never been to previously, it's a weird but also very calming feeling. It's almost as if it's my mind reassuring me that the fondness I feel for the past can also be thought of for the future and present.

It's life's gift to you.

The smell of leather.

Reminds me of a time in my life that I just barely, barely, barely remember.

My paternal grandfather owned a shoe store where he made all of the shoes. At some point when i was younger than 4 my father stopped speaking to his parents. He claimed it was over money they said he owed them. He said they're crazy. They probably were. But every single time I smell that smell of leather I remember being that young in their house and having two old eastern European immigrants that loved me. We started talking to Grandma after Grandpa died. We never knew he was in the hospital or sick or anything. Grandma died shortly after. That part was weird.

Thats the only connection to paternal family that I have besides my father, and his other daughter thats not from my mom. It's a sort of hole in my life not in the terms of being a major hole where I feel like somethings always missing but as in far that I wonder if my paternal grandparents had any living brothers or sisters or cousins that might be able to share a bit of family history.

The smell of leather.

It's pretty deep. The jews werent the only people disjointed by ww2, but they'd have you think as much.
