They fuck everybody for as much as they can regardless. The saddest fact is that they actively try to not pay rightful claimants automatically, it is true that I am lucky and was not majorly damage but I incurred that damage while working through no fault of my own, accidents happen that's why there is accident insurance.

I signed a contract and paid my premium for many years, my condition is covered in that contract, why should I play the hero?

I busted 9 spinal discs from jobs that involved heavy lifting (that's what happens when you don't get a college degree) and now they press on the nerve sacks going to all my extremities giving me constant chronic pain.

I also suffer from PTSD after a fight with a builder who was the size of a WWF wrestler.

I put in close to 30 years work before taking early retirement so I'm only a small time parasite. I did feed the cow a lot before I drank the milk. Obviously not as much as our working class hero Stoneric though.

Not once did you say you were unable to work only that you shouldn't have to. You say the insurance companies are making billions, only fools and horses work, it's the 1% fault and something about not being a hero. You've talked the same shit in other threads.

I didn't claim to be a working class hero. I made a thread about me retiring in a year and you came and did your best to be an asshole. If you want to make a thread about being a comp whore, feel free.

It will take awhile but I will rearrange my day so I never open my eyes in the morning and it's still dark outside. I won't be sleeping any more but I will be doing what I do now on days I don't work. I like to get up and get stoned and then lay flat on my back in bed. I scratch my nuts as I contemplate the world's problems and decide what I will do that day while my cat lies on my chest marking his territory by rubbing his cat snot in my beard. Nirvana.

Now Rev, its not a woman's place to get into a physical altercation with a man.

Whats disturbing isn't the image so much as that someone decided this would be a good thing to record and broadcast, presumably for comedic value. I just don't see the 'lets include this in the script' moment.

Congrats Stoneric on your impending second childhood.
serious question...How much $ is enough to retire on?
The cost of living rises faster than our wages and inflation is a govt. game using commodities such as new cars to explain the cost of everything.
Nobody buys a new car every year but they use the cost to bring down the overall cost of living in the inflation calc.. The basics rise constantly like food and utilities and medicare but the pensions stay the same or rise artificially low based on the govt.s inflation rate.
How do you plan ahead for the reduced power of your paycheck?
For example...here in Vancouver rent for a 1 bedroom "Decent" apartment runs a low 1200$ a month. Utilities like cable, power and heat perhaps another 300$. Food is about 15$ a day if you cook for yourself equalling another 450$.
So just your basic food and shelter runs around 1950$ before Meds, Smokes, entertainment, clothes, booze, dental, footwear etc.
Assuming an average low 10 years before you begin to drool and call yourself queen Elizabeth...how much is enough?

Something it admiring you for but don't express often is my admiration of your long standing vegetarianism.

Also, I rarely ever bought anything I could not pay for 'now', so I am relatively debt free. I suppose I have missed out on some things, but stress/worry are not among them.

/\/\/\/\ This is the way to do it. People who just buy 'stuff' for instant gratification will never get it. Can't put a price on peace-of-mind. I think us Boomers will be the last generation that can retire at age 65. I think if you're born after 1960, isn't the retirement / Social Security age 70 or 75 even?

I took an early retirement after injuring myself at work (after 25 yrs working at the newspaper). Got Social Security Disability & a 6-figure Workmen's Comp settlement. No pension, though. I would've if I remained at a city newspaper, as we were Teamsters at the Rocky Mtn News in Denver & if you're a blue-collar worker, Unions are the only way to make a decent living & retirement pension.

Way to go, stoneric. 30+ yrs at the same place is very rare.

Luckily my state is a medical state and I can continue to have an income with my grow op. Also luckily, I joined this site in '04 and learned how to grow with the help of my fellow growers who had the experience and were willing to share their knowledge. This includes you slunt. Anyway, I have a nice little income because of that and I think I will actually be able to save money when I retire. It also helps to live in a small town in the upper peninsula of Michigan where the cost of living is dirt cheap.

I hope that you will have a decent pension, that's the most important thing when retiring. Shit to broke more shit to be old and broke.
He's a skilled laborer in a union. He probably makes a good wage and has benefits and people to watch his back.

You may not know this but America is a second-world shithole as far as the job market is concerned. Politicians have made socialism and unions dirty words and union jobs are few and far between.

So, in short, stoneric was smart to keep his head down and do his time. At least he is going to get to retire, which is more than one could say for the majority of workers in this country.

I don't know, I just could never get into the whole career trip. The idea of doing the same job in the same place year after year for the best years of my life only to get to retire when I'm too old to do anything without enough money to do anything just never grabbed me.

The only careers that I can respect are those based on making the world a better place and helping other people. Doing something just to make money to live seems too close to slavery IMO.

But like you say, he is one of the lucky few, the newer generation of slaves won't even have a meagre retirement to look foreword to.

It sure as fuck wasn't my life's goal. But I'm not too old to do anything and I'll have enough money to pretty much live like I do now.

I didn't have a career, I had a job. I made shit people use. You got a water pump in your car? It was close to slavery, what isn't?
