The only way out of the slave trade is by fucking the system unless you are rich (in which case you already fucked the system).

Socrates said it is better to suffer evil than to do it. I say it is better to exploit than to be exploited as long as you can exploit the exploiters.

Did you make a family during your slavery?

A belated Happy Birthday to both of you. Mothernature just squeaked into the 1954 spot. Your folks had a great tax write-off that year.

I'm smack dab in the middle of 1954. My folks were somewhat 'old' when I was born, as they waited 13 years after getting married in 1941 to have me. My dad was 44 & my mom was 40 when I was born. They took 1 look at me & said, "What have we done to ourselves?" My dad being 100% Ukrainian was somewhat stern. My pals would ask me why my dad was mad all the time... ...I'd tell them, "He isn't mad...just wondering why he ruined his life having me as a son."

They were like 20 years older than all my friends' folks...but were very laidback & never minded weed, as they were drinkers during Prohibition & never saw any harm in weed.

That is a circular argument if I ever heard one. They are already fucking the exploited on such a huge scale that it makes no difference. they will squeeze as much as they can no matter who does what, the cornerstone of capitalism is to MAXIMIZE PROFITS regardless.

Do you realize that you probably pay more personal income tax on your semi- decent salary than a multi-millionaire will pay? Warren Buffets secretary paid more income tax than he did.

If you open a small business you will pay a higher rate of tax on your sales than any multinational corporation.

Face it we live in an Oligarchy. If the rich feel no remorse from stealing vast quantities of money, why should the poor care when they catch a lucky break and can get out of the slave system?

Funny you should say that. My Dad was an accountant and we teased him about that a lot. We told people he pushed Mom down the stairs.

Congratulations stoneric, on the countdown. Are you starting to visualize it?I'd be giggling outloud at work by November.

Lot of empty space and you get to decide what to fill it with.

Actually I could have retired at 60 w/full bennies, but I was working on the best (or maybe 2nd best) job I ever had. I really liked what I did, the foreman kept the wolves at bay, everyone on our crew got along supremely, & all worked hard, only crew that 'inspection' trusted, etc, etc. Oh did I mention oodles of $$. Plus, I lived right in the middle of the job. Distance to either end was about 12 miles. For a while I could see my property from where we were working. Job this good, you do not quit. You retire from it.

That was like my job at The Rocky Mtn News in Denver. I started as a driver in the Circulation Dept in the mid-1970s & was making $4.35/hr. I kept seeing these guys with blue jackets that had The Rocky Mtn News logo & underneath said 'Transportation Dept'.

I started talking with 1 of the drivers, who introduced me to the Transportation Dept Manager. We got along great, but he told me he'd hire me as soon as someone retires or dies, as nobody quits that Teamster job. I checked every month & about 6 months went by when he contacted me that a driver, who'd been there 40 yrs, was retiring.

He told the Circulation Dept Manager the scoop & within a week, I was hired. I went from $4.35/hr to $11/hr delivering the newspaper bundles to the carriers. This was 1977 & $11/hr was righteous bucks back then. Plus it was at night (morning paper), so no traffic. I loved my job, but in May 1984, I had to leave Colorado quickly. Legal issues, prison time, & even after years in prison, the job would've been gone. Worst month/year of my life, although I don't think that newspaper still exists. I think it's only The Denver Post nowadays(?).

I can't go into specifics, but I'd love to be able to turn back the clock. I did get an Honorable Withdrawal from the Teamster Union, so I figured I'd get a union job down here in NC... ...yeah sure thing.
