Post Finding a dealer at a head shop?

Ok...I've never really had a problem getting weed when I lived at home. I had friends who were dealers, etc. But now I've moved to Austin, Tx- from everything I've heard I didn't figure it would be that hard to find a dealer. So I started asking people I knew up here, and none of them smoke anymore. Then I asked a girl I used to work with up here, who has huge dreads, and I figured she would know a dealer, right? Nope...she quit smoking 6 months ago.

So now I'm out of people to ask- people I know anyway. I know it shouldn't be this hard to find a dealer, but for me I guess it is. So, out of sheer boredom I decided to walk to a head shop which is about two blocks from my house. I was just going to check out the glass pieces, and generally waste time.

Then a very sweet looking 50 year old woman came in, and we joked around for a few seconds, and then she proceded to buy a scale and baggies. Of course we all know what she's doing. So the thought ran through my head, "Should I ask her for a little help? Would she go for that? How safe is this?" In the end, I didn't ask her, but it got me thinking....

How safe is it to try and find a hook-up at a head shop? If no one is around, is it safe to ask an employee for help in that department? I've never had to do this, so I have no idea. It doesn't seem too safe, but it's either this or nothing. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Oh, and if you are going to just post and say how pathetic I am because I can't find a dealer, don't bother. I know I'm pathetic....thanks

Unless you're real good friends with the people that work there, then I don't think they'll hook you up..

Either make small talk and frequent the shop often.

Or work there, special benefits are cool..

dont be a dumbass man, never mention a WORD about anything illegal at a head shop. NEVER. most likely they will throw you out and ban you from the store. they run a risky business doing what they do and they dont need some dumbass to blow it.

true

A good thing to do here is to leave around the same time as your possible dealer, and just make small talk and walk with them for a bit till you get well away from the store. Then, if you don't seem like some wierd stalker, ask away. She'll probly see that you know your shit and might hook you up. The thing every dealer wants is cool, smart customers, so dont be an ass and dont be stupid.

and thats my $0.02

yeah if your gonna ask, ask outside the shop. they don't any more hassle than they already got. i don't know how it is in austin, but around here (charleston s.c.) if you go in and ask for a bong instead of a waterpipe, they will ask you to leave.

I thought bongs and whatnot were straight illegal in texas, so why the headhsops?

I went to a headshop one time and my friend bought some bags, and the dude behind the counter was like "so what are ya gunna put in the bags?" and my friend said "oh probably soe nuts and skrews" and the guy was like "oh cuz I got some stuff back here that you could put in em".

We refused his offer because we already had weed, I dunno if it was legit or not but we never went back.

Hmm...I've never heard that....maybe they are, but in all the headshops I go to, there are usually signs near the bongs that say "Just Call It A Waterpipe!" or something to that effect. I figured it was like this in all headshops across the US, but maybe it's just in Texas.

no, i've never heard anyone in a head-shop say bong except the customers. they all say waterpipe 'cause bong is the slang term you use for a waterpipe when you're smoking weed in it.

about your question though, i'd go to concerts. haven't been to a concert yet where there wasn't the smell of weed in the air. go to a reggae show, you KNOW there's gonna be tokers there! hehe.. just be smart and careful

all head shops everywhere have rules about the "bong" name. around here its very strict. we used to have 3 headshops here on the beach and one got shut down cuz the cops sent in some underage undercover cop and he bought a bong with no id, and called it a "bong" while he had a wire under his shirt. so the cops raided the place and took every pipe in the store because it was now "drug paraphanelia." store got shut down, everyone else learned a lesson

I don't understand why it's not alright to talk about weed in a head shop. You can talk about weed any where else on earth with no legal problem. But even mention "shake" in a head shop and you get evil looks from everyone. I'm not talking about the bong/water pipe shit here. Obviously the difference in bongs and water pipes are a matter of whether or not a product is legal to sell. But come on! What happened to freedom of speech. Arrogant head shop employees......

Talking

At the bong shop here it's great, they give you tips on everything from drying/wetting the weed to which bongs they reckon are the best

If anyone called them waterpipes they'd probably get a weird fuckin look.
