Post Anti-drug crusader and family burned alive...

Anti-drugs crusader Angela Dawson, 36, and her five children, all 14-years or under, were killed by a fire in their Baltimore home Wednesday. Dawson’s husband escaped death by jumping out a 2nd-story window.

Dawson was described by neighbors as “a concerned mother” troubled by the flow of illegal drugs in her neighborhood. She had confronted drug dealers on several occasions and escaped a fire-bombing attempt earlier this month.

A suspect, Darrell Brooks, 21, has been arrested and charged with arson and first-degree murder.

Man thats fucked up.

She certainly had balls to confront those drug dealers. You have to admire her for that. She just wanted her kids to be safe in and around her home. She got killed for it.

Its to bad she wasn't better informed. If she was she and her children still might be alive. If she knew that the only way to get those dangerous drug dealers off her street would be to end drug prohibition. She could have used her enourmous amount of courage to confront the law makers and general public about our drug laws.

Why would there be drug dealers on her corner if the drug were made available by liscensed vendors? This is why WE must inform the public of the error of The War ON Drugs.

36-year-old Dawson; Carnell Dawson Jr., 10; Juan Ortiz, 12; twins Kevin and Keith Dawson, 9; and LaWanda Ortiz, 14.
All casualities of the War On Drugs. Expect many more to come.

my teacher made a good point when my class randomly brought up the Drug War. He commented on the fact that if it was legalized, and if we were all or mostly on drugs, how would we function in society> how would be progress, the only way to sustain human life on this earth is to progress, and while i do believe that society isnt always a good thing, its what makes us HUMAN, thats it. and he was very right in that if drugs were legalized (im not meaning only MJ, i mean all drugs) than we would go to shit bc people wouldnt have a reason not to do them, so them they would do them and noone would learn anything and we'd end up killing off ourselves....hmmm

Good point. I mean, how many people that advance society like artists and scientists, inventors, hackers, and various other visionaries ever used drugs.

the goal of alchemy is to turn lead into gold. to take a substance and combine it with another substance that makes it more than it's origenal worth. in this sense, you really need to start making bronze statues of your pharmacist or local chemist, for they have made gods own medicine, morphine, and in contrast, a shiney rock doesnt seem to compete.

i can't remember but there was a study that said if marijuana were legalized, that its use would not increase. And if that's fora drug like good ol pot, i really doubt other drugs would incease to the degree you speak of. If the general public is so brainwashed that pot is such a devil, imagine what they must think about coke and x. And even if that happened, which i wish it did, it's not neccesarily a bad thing. Most of everything in society isn't neeeded. All you need is a house, maybe clothes, food and water. If you have those, and you can live the life you want, than what do credit cards, televisions, etc, mean to you? I could live well with just a computer, a part-time job to support myself with, etc. The things that would fall apart wouldn't be neccesary. If they were really needed, even the addicts would keep them up. And besides, you need money for drugs, legal or not. People arn't going to all say," Fuck off!" To their bosses and walk away from work forever.

If you want to fight drug dealers, support the repeal of the prohibition. No other way will get rid of them. The Amerikkan Way quite obviously didn't work for this mother and children. Her blood is on the hands of all agencies that support the prohibition and propangandize the population. Of course, drugs are to blame for this. Easy scapegoat. Just ask most of the people on taxpayer's salary that are using tax dollars for literature and advertisments supporting the prohibition. Your tax dollars at work against you.

I've never seen someone selling 6 packs on the corner to kids. You usually have to ask your older sibling or friend.

no, i'd say being like that guy who tried to commit suicide by swallowing poison, hanging himself, setting himself on fire would be (if you don't know this story [i actually think it's an urban legened, but anyway...] there's a guy who really wants to kill himself, so he sets up a noose over a lake, drinks poison, pours gasolien over his body, sets himself on fire, takesa shotgun and jumps over the ledge of a bridge into the lake, the strangualtion isn't working, so he tries to blow off his head with the shotgun. Accidently hits the rope, and falls into the water, putting out the fire. The shock of all this causes him to vomit the poison back up. He goes to the hospital, and dies. But because of fuckin' hypothermia)

Do you have anybody you care about? I'm sure you do. Part of being human is the ability to empathize with other human. When I hear about a mother being burned alive with all her children I think " Gee that could very well be my mother and my brothers and sisters". When I hear about bombs being dropped in afganistan and whole innocent civilian villages being wiped out I am saddened as much as hearing about sky scrapers falling in New York.

"people die all the time of horrible deaths, I'm missing why this woman and her family are special?"

They are special because they are humans. They are just as special as any other shmoe. Just as special as Lisa "Left eye" Lopes, icky bick wakka wakka from afganistan, and even you Supermarket. However the circumstances surrounding this whole families death make it even harder to choke down.

Maybe one day I will be enlightened enough not to care about the loss of human life. But untill then I will go about shedding my futile tears while edified people such as yourself make light of it.
