Question Anyone play Dungeons and Dragons?

Anyone else here play Dungeons and Dragons? I've noticed that D&D players are somewhat of a fading breed due to all of the new role playing games out there. Especially those of us who still play 2nd edition D&D. I've also noticed that alot of people who smoke or used to smoke weed tend to play D&D. I dunno...maybe I've just thought about those little observations a bit too much. So...D&D anyone?

I used to play it, sold all my 3rd addition books and kinda want to play it again. If anyone thinks its gay, just play it. I think it is cool because you can do anything. Except some actions require dice rolls so you are not god. I just wish I still had my stuff.

I played it alot about 20-25 years ago when Advanced D&D first came out. (I still have all the books...somewhere.) Loved it. We abused the shit out of the rules (I think my wizard character was like 250th level or something, with so many hit points he was, for all intents and purposes, immortal) but we had a good time.

I recently stopped by a gamers shop to find out what the new D&D scene is, but it seems pretty much everyone has gone on to new games. They still have lots of books (too many, from the looks of it) but to the younger crowd it seems D&D is becoming somewhat antiquated.

Oh well, "nothing gold can stay."

I also think D&D being bought out by Wizards of the Coast (the creators of Magic who're basically now like the Microsoft of RPG's) has much to do with the decline of it's popularity.

Not making a value judgement here, just thought the stereotypes in this facetious profile do a good job of reflecting prevailing stereotypes of fantasy game players.

And as such, I found it pretty funny.
