a bigger appreciation for graffiti artists
Ive taken my fair share of art classes, and ever since the start have had a bigger appreciation for graffiti than modern artists. Im talking about the artists, not your local town tager. The level of detail and skill these guys have is amazing when considering the size of normal a wall bombings. Some from my collection. Enjoy!..

na, digital aint the ay for me Neo. Its soooo boring working at a computer all day. Id much rather paint, than drag a mouse all day. Besides people stuck at the computer turn into terds; you gotta have a ton of experience with computer programs to make something decent for todays standards. Ill stick with my more practical way. However, I do have to say id save a ton of money. Art supplies are expesive. I spent 250 bucks one dam day on brushes, paint cans, paint, and 2 books.

wacom tablets (wacom is the brand i would recommend) are very fun and eliminate the drawing with the mouse. there are a couple of programs that are very good at replicating natural media, such as Corel (formerly Procreate, formerly Metacreations) Painter and Alias Sketchbook. I think there is a free limited version of sketchbook at http://www.alias.com it takes a little while to get hand eye coordination correct with the tablet. not drawing directly on the surface can be unusual at first. that problem can be avoided altogether if you get that wacom pressure sensative monitor or a tablet pc. i have been fascinated with art and computers since i was first introduced to the concepts. so this was such a natural progression for me. lately what i've been wanting to do is take some of my digital works and replicate them with natural media. printing doesn't give quite the right output. but i think you could make a great print if all your monitor printer callibrations were correct. and file size, dpi, format, etc. which is why i don't really print my work. but i think digital work is great for working out ideas. it's a much easier workflow i think. all tools are accesible, colors are easy, and the most wonderful features; undo and history. oh and layers are great too. actually there are a ton of basic tools that make life as an artist so much simpler. uh, but yeah, i've probably spent way too much time on the computer. it's worthwhile to me, but it's obviously not for everyone. this guy comes to mind when thinking about digital work. he has some pretty impressive pieces but a really shitty website. he also goes over some of the hardware/software and has some tips and tricks and whatnot. well, that's all from me for now. update: i was browsing random 3d sites and whatnot and stumbled upon this fellow named steven stahlberg and his work is amazing. i thought it funny to edit this post to include it but i think it's much more impressive then the above link. theres too much good art work out there! |

There used to be some abandoned train tracks where I live that had the sickest graffiti in the tunnels and bridges, but then they put a light rail train on it, and painted white over all the graf. Now i'ts a really boring ride. I guess they wanted to make it look less ghettp or somthing
![]() There's still a lot of cool art around, but the city always goes and paints over it.

those are all tight.
Amsterdam has a lot of great graffiti and i think they are pretty liberal about it because its everywhere. In fact i remember quite a few places in europe that had jaw dropping artwork. some of them i can't even imaging how they did it. |
