problems clonning
Please help! I have tried almost every way to clone. I have tried a simple glass of water to a bubble system. My last failed attempt was with rockwool. I kept the temp. always between 78-83, Humid. @ 90%. I presoaked my rockwool to 5.8 PH with a drop of superthrive per gal. and a 1/3 of paroxcide. I misted 2 times a day and uncovered on the third day. I also have them under flourecent light with heating pad. Some died in the first to days, a few turned yellow and died. The last one that was left looked good for 8 days. It also kicked the can. Please help!

i think you may be misting too much, you want the clones to have to search for water and therefore grow roots quickly. also, are you cutting them at a 45 deg angle, you may want to try it under water.

I cut them from the plant with about 3 nods and put them right in to water. I make the 45 degree cut under water. Dip them right into rootting gel and put it into the rockwool. I have been doing some more reading. I have found that I take my rockwool out from soaking and put my clones in. I think I am leaving the rockwool to wet. I keep getting stem rot. I will try to ring it out a little so that it is only moist.

Kosh is pretty well on it...........
I always lightly scrape the outside of my cuttings at the base before I put the rooting gel on it,for the roots will establish themselves from the side rather than the bottom of the cutting, keep them in a neutral ph and add an aquarium air stone to the water to help oxygenate the water before watering the plant and with patience, they wiil take hold. There is a definate skill to cloning and practice makes perfect, just don't give up.................. |

Some strains though ARE and will always be a bitch to clone. Clonability (yay, new word) is one of the things I look for as a characteristic.
One of the med keepers in my garden is an MK x NL that will root (cleaqr of the cube) in 14 days in Oasis, in a plate of water with no heating, no misting, just a small resevoir at the bottom of the plate to keep the Oasis moist. Keep it simple, huck makes the point about scraping the bottom half inch to be in the soil/cube of the cutting before planting it in your medium (scarifying), this is INVALUABLE and encourages root growth immensely. Good luck with the grow. SS
