Post Driving while stoned

Okay, I've been kinda' wondering what the general concensus is on driving while stoned. I guess it's probably not the BEST idea in the world, but it's defanately not as bad as driving drunk. I guess I find that there's a point where someone can actually be too stoned to drive, and I guess I'd probably put that point parallel to the point where you're so high that you can't come down if you need to (which of course is a side effect of being REALLY stoned!). Still, I've never in my life heard of a marijuana related car accident, compare that to the millions of alcohol related automotive deaths per year...

What does everybody else think? Is it safe or not? Is there a point where you shouldn't drive for a while? Anything else you have to add? I'm curious, thanks!

Whenever I drive long distances (like when I go back home) I always make sure to bring some weed and smoke on the way home. I drive in west texas so theres usually never any cops on the highway, and lots of highway between towns. Makes the drive much more interesting.

I think there is nothin at all with driving stoned. I agree with the statement that your more careful. Also driving stoned is not as big of a deal as driving drunk by far, any real smoker knows that.

Driving while stoned is cool for a while but it gets kind've hard to consintrate on it all so sometimes you fuck up, so if you are really bad just stay on country road or something?

I'm always paranoid that I'm going to hit the curb. Someone tells you to get away from the curb and you barely correct in time to miss because you don't want to make any sudden movements, just wouldn't seem right. Other than that, it's fun. I agree, I tend to be a tad more careful driving baked than when sober.

Definately agree with the long distance driving. A long roadtrip is much more interesting baked, especially if you're alone.

<img src="http://grass.hippy.com/images/magic_bus.jpg" align=left hspace=20>I never drive stoned. Too paranoid about getting pulled over. (Then again, the few times I faced driving when high, I had also been drinking, so who knows?)

We've had them here, unless it was 'The Man' putting spin on the story to diss weed. A guy in a CRX did a U-turn in front of a truck, kapowie, coroner's report indicated 'high levels of marijuana in the bloodstream' and he wasn't drunk. Maybe he just fucked up, but maybe he just fucked up because he was fucked up.

I'm sure there are plenty of marijuana related accidents, just as there are plenty of alcohol related accidents, and situations caused by people being tired, putting on makeup, talking on the phone, or eating dinner while driving.

However, I don't think most people are at an increased risk if they're driving stoned. Sure, you have the stupid people who get high and go out doing 120mph down the highway, but people like that do it whether they're stoned or straight.

It's been my experience that people pay closer attention to their driving while stoned, and that many of them even drive within the law.. which is something most straight people don't do.

Speaking from personal experience, I love to drive high, though I don't do it often. I follow all the laws. I drive the speed limit on country roads and 10 below on highways. I put it on cruise control, kick up the tunes, and I'm jamming.

Hell yeah! There's my baby! I want that bus! Sorry, Volkswagen moment there.

I think that driving while stoned is no more dangerous then driving while distracted, weather it's distracted from lack of sleep, noisy people in the car, or just something on your mind. I've been thinking about it a lot lately. A friend of mine, who doesn't smoke, is very against it, which I can understand because until I started smoking I was very against it too. Now that it's started snowing I'm going to try and really really minimize the amount of stoned driving I do because when I'm driving in the snow, I don't like being distracted.

Not me! I have trouble relaxing when I'm a passenger anyway. I HAVE to be driving. When I'm stoned my passenger paranoia is just that much worse, so much that it completely kills my buzz. I HAVE to be driving (oh, I already said that).

This is the most ridiculous thread ever, if you smoke weed you shouldn't drive cause you might see magic leprachauns of the devil might talk to you... Dont want to be driving and then all of a sudden get reefer madness. If smoking pot fucks you up that much dont drive. I've never been that fucked up off of herb before whether or not I was smoking "A couple of blunts a white widow"... man what a ridiculous topic.

Man, I always drive the speed limit baked. It's a weird phenomenon; all the people I know who drive high report the same thing.

I tend to consider myself rather mentally sharp, but it's safe to say you got me with this post.

drivin high is a DIFFERENT experience, but it doesn't seem too bad, the only think i hate about it is like it seems to take forever when you're turning or something, like it seems like you turn the steering wheel about 17 times just to make a right hand turn

Man any driving right now would be nice. I got a DUI in Indiana and it is six months automatic license suspension. I get my license back in January. Up here by the cincity, OH all the interstates are cicles and interconnected and the first time I smoked kind I wound up driving in 100 mile circles from Indianapolis to Cincinati to Dayton. This is my 'hood too and I had no fucking clue what the hell was going on. It's like a maze from hell.

Problem is, there's no way to tell if he was actually high at the time of the accident. THC remains in the body long after the high is gone. If I were autopsied right now, I'm sure the THC levels would be "high." And I haven't smoked for hours.
