Post cops

Ok it doesn't help that I have a narcotics officer living across from mean in a newer manufactured home park, but these new neighbors moved in and I have a bad feeling about them I smoked them out the other night and they said to come over and they'd smoke me out but they haven't been able to find any and have been trying to get me to get my connects to hook them up. I know that when my husband jokingly/seriously asked if they were cops she said no and he didn't say anything. I haven't smoked with them since and I'm not sure I'm going to unless they can give me a reason to trust them. I would apprieciate any advice. Should I be paranoid?

Yes. Ask them both if they are cops and don't come around with weed until they say no. THey can't say no and still arrest you. Also I would find a new hiding spot other than your house, just to be safe. I always err on the side of cautiont hough. Probably why I have never been busted.

I don't understand why people come to this conclusion. If true, explain to me how undercover cops work?

Anyways, I think you're very paranoid. Hell, you smoked with them, so what would make you think they would all of a sudden turn to the "dark side"?

ah yeah dude, they can say no and still arest you. theres a little thing called a sting where cops pretend they arent. dont you think they would be kinda pointless is some pothead said "are you a cop man?" and they had to tell the truth. anyway, you prob are just a little paranoid, but its still ok to be safe.

It's called Entrapment, the police cannot encourage you do commit a crime, you must present it to them. Also if you ask an undercover cop if he is cop he will something like 'do I look like a cop to you?' If police say no then entrapment laws protect you. But also they might just be looking for a hook up, I can't remember if you said they just moved in or what but that might be it.

Cool

Cops can do whatever the fuck they want to in order to make a case, don't fool yourself about them having to follow some sort of guidelines in order to pop you, they don't even have morals !!! Common rule, don't sell to anyone that you don't know where they came from, even if they sell to you at some time or another, entrapment or not, they will deny it to the end and you will get convicted for their lies...........

Entrapment is that cut and dry. Entrapment is defined as "to lure into performing a previously or otherwise uncontemplated illegal act". So in other words, the fact the Dragonfairy has already smoked with them would make it very difficult to claim entrapment.

Just because they took drugs does not mean they are cops. Cops are allowed to injest drugs. If you ask an undercover cop if they are a cop and they say no it is entrapment. If those neighbors are cops then likely if they wanted to they could get a warrant and search their house. But I highly doubt they are really cops.

Dragonfairy,

I wouldn't smoke with someone I didn't know and had a bad feeling about. It may be that they are really heads and they are new to the area and need a hookup ... so what, let them find their own. Suppose they aren't cops or even informants .. that doesn't mean they are discrete. Last thing you need is your connection going to jail because the neighbors bragged about his product to the wrong person.

With all this free advice ... all you need now is 25 cents and you can make a phone call

It's a popular misconception that, if asked, an undercover cop has to tell you who he is, or it becomes entrapment by default. This is quite false. The police are not only allowed to lie to you, but are ENCOURAGED to do so in order to make arrests. And so long as they don't drive you to do something you wouldn't otherwise do, it's not entrapment.

If your neighbors give you a bad feeling, then follow your instincts and keep any illegal activities from them. Also, it's really bad form to ask a person who their hook-ups are. We're engaging in activities which are illegal, so discretion should rule everything...and anyone wanting to join in should know this.

Your neighbors are probably just inexperienced (and pretty much idiots) but don't take a chance with your freedom. Tell them nothing, and allow them to witness nothing.

(BTW, I know you smoked them out, but you have nothing to worry about there. In order to make a misdemeanor arrest, the crime has to occur in the presence of the officer making the arrest. There are exceptions to this, but they relate to misdemeanor drunk driving, not smoking pot. So, even if your neighbors run to LEO telling them that they saw you smoking, the cops can't do anything but watch you (legally)).

One of my friends had a minor drug offence thrown out because the cop said he that he wasn't a cop. Most of the time they try to change the subject or make you feel stupid for asking the question.

Think about what you just said. If that was true, then the golden rule when dealing drugs would be to ask the buyer if he is a cop. If he says "no", then sell him drugs, you cannot get busted? wtf. I don't think so.

riiight... just like my sister's boyfriend's uncle was down in new orleans, hooked up with this hot chick, passed out and woke up in a bathtub full of ice without a kidney, and 'call 911' written on the mirror with lipstick. true story. swear to god.

http ://www.snopes.com/risque/hookers/cop.htm

----------------------
Claim: Prostitutes can safely challenge johns with the question "Are you a cop?" because law enforcement officers must answer truthfully.
Status: False.

Origins: Police
don't have to reveal their status, even when asked flat out. There's nothing in the law that says a policeman can't lie to you in the course of performing his duties. Were this not so, there'd be no sting operations that involve telling wanted criminals they'd just won a trip to Bermuda to get them to come on in, or undercover operations where cops pretend to be suppliers to drug buyers. Police couldn't do their jobs were they restricted to telling the truth all of the time, and a moment's thought about it should lay this belief to rest.

It has long been accepted hooker lore that a working girl could make herself arrestproof by asking a prospective john if he were a law enforcement officer before anyone's clothes came off. This belief in protection rested on the notion that even if the client did turn out to be a policeman, his not being truthful about it would get the arrest thrown on the grounds of entrapment.

Entrapment, alas, has to do with leading someone into engaging in an illegal activity he or she wouldn't otherwise have been involved in. A hooker getting together with a john is the ordinary course of business the act of prostitution is not brought on by the john's talking the prostitute into doing something she otherwise would never have thought to do.

Even so, this bit of hooker lore is widely believed, and reliance upon it gets a number of girls arrested who might otherwise have passed on the trick. In 1986 prostitute Dolores French and her lawyer husband Michael Hauptman wrote a legal pamphlet they planned to distribute nationwide to call girls through COYOTE (Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics), the national hookers' association, and AIDS test programs being conducted in several cities. Among other things, it warned that undercover police waving money have to go a long way to be accused of entrapping prostitutes. "Many people believe if you ask an officer if he is a cop, and the officer denies it, that is entrapment. This is a myth," the pamphlet said.

As for how the police view the question of telling the truth when confronted:

"It's something fun to do other than driving around in cars all day," Officer Stratman said, shortly before taking up position in front of the motel. "A lot of them ask if you're a cop. I just say, 'No.' I can tell a lie."
