this is not a copy and paste thread.

this is a simple question, that everyone of you is capable of answering.

beyond liberal, beyond conservative, there lays a line of human progress, what got us from point A (then) and B (now). it was not dictators, or forms of government that got us here, it was us humans.

so, based to what you know of our history, or even just of your own family tree, do you believe that we are better, more adaptable, or further ahead than our ancestors?

or do you believe in de-evolution, that we are going backwards?

or even just stuck in a loop.

the goal of alchemy is to turn lead into gold. to take a substance and combine it with another substance that makes it more than it's origenal worth. in this sense, you really need to start making bronze statues of your pharmacist or local chemist, for they have made gods own medicine, morphine, and in contrast, a shiney rock doesnt seem to compete.

"Progress" is a belief like anything else.

if you asked a cat what he thought about progress he would call you crazy. all this technology and t.v. and shit is just to makes us more comfortable.

Beliefs change. Some change quick, others change slow. "progress" is just another belief. in 2000 years people will look at us like we look at the romans. and in another 2000 years people will look at those people like they looked at us. its all relative.

Governor

Having lived in the jungles to the cities I've observed very little difference between "primitaves" and "modern" man. The children are still childlike, the adolesents are still ruled by testosterone, and the adults still want better for their offspring. Their medicine, in most cases, is better than ours and their religions are as complex as anything western civilization has ever dreamed up.

The morals are very different but the rejects (those that can't live within the rules of a society) are still in every society.

In my opinion, we are more dependent on technology more than ever, the way of life which our ancestory led is increasingly becoming more distant, look around when there are natural events i.e. ice storms, floods, hurricanes people are lost without electricty and our modern conveniences.

Definitly we are not better, we are ever more addicted to fossil fuel and non renewable resources, more adaptable? not physically or mentally either and further ahead? not in my opinion.

well like gov said there really is no difference. we havent progressed at all. we are just more comfortable. oh and we are finally losing religion but that is long overdue. i guess thats a plus. but all this internet tv radio car stuff are just tools to aid in the spread of ideas from person to person which is what life is really all about.

i guess you could say that the world is smaller, ideas move faster, etc. this leads to the loss of negative beliefs like religion, prohobition, prejudice, etc but can create beliefs just as bad in its place. (atheism?)

The voice of the people can be heard much better when it comes to government. the corrupt policies that gov'ts have been running for thousands of years are going to change with this influx of information and ideas.

the world is a much different place, thats my final conclusion. not better or worse just different. but once we as a race start to figure out what life and reality is all about things will get much better. right now we are in the dark.
