Early sexing?

Ok fellow gardeners...

I thought i'd try something!!!???!

As you know it is difficult to pre-determine the gender of an unknown plant! (especially bag beanies) however I had a thought...
I ran my finger up and down the main stalk of a 3 week old...( 4 plants)...
Two of them smelt like 'flowers' so I put the other two whom smelt 'woodzy' to the side!

Only to find out i was CORRECT! Has any of youz guyz tried this?

My success rate is 4 girls to 6 plants...(3RD Grow)Your comments please!

I know you can put a bag ove one of the branches for 12 hours a day during vegging to force early flowering on that branch

yes i have heard that theory but...what about my thread post? smelling the stem with the finger rub? it appeared to work for me!?

Interesting theory, I'd like to see that tested on a larger scale but I suspect you have to have the right nose for it

Yep chefyD, the girls will tend to start smelling sooner than the boys.
The boys tend to be the most vigorous and stretchy, also they often show preflowering first.

I can't tell for sure until I see the male or female flowers though.

Well thanks FG, you know a bit about my experimental ways,,,so i thought i would see if there may be a connection to my thoughts....I had 4(four) going,
and like you said about the vigorous growth and all. So I rubbed me fingers on the stem and npticed a slight but remarkable difference between the four plants! So I seperated the two from the others...sure 'nuf two gals and two guys! very very interesting...yes I have a "chefs" nose ...LoL
I addition my luck is rather good considering I don't have any luck but BAD luck! LoL this is my third grow...1ST and 2ND were girlies! My thrid attempt I started 4 plants I went 2 for 4 .500BA..!!
Maybe i'm doinin' something right, maybe not but i like it!

Guess I lied?! Come to find out that out of the FOUR, 3 of 'em are of the female type...she took sooo long to show her makeup? whoa! sittin' pretty! Tres senoritas, soon Tres Senoras...BTW I no spanish , but Yo habla...LOl happy,happy

You will prolly find your chef's nose did not lie- bet you the first two you spotted are the best two for taste and potency.
