If it makes any of you guys feel any better back in 2006 one of my best friends, my 4 year old grey tabby, was run over and killed by a car. 2 sleepless nights later, a resident of our town rang our bell and told us the bad news of where and how he was killed. severe depression soon followed.

sorry to hear about your troubles smaj.
i wish you and your cat the best

Thanks you guys/gals. Tonight was the night. Last 2 or 3 days were a steady downhill, and by today it was apparent that my kitty wasn't going to have any more good days and that it was just going to get worse for him from here on. The family got together and we all gathered into the vet's office to say our goodbyes. It's hard with cats especially, because they don't want petting or affection when they feel really sick.

But folks, let me tell y'all this. We got that cat between 5 and 6 years ago from the pound. We always like to pick from the animals that are on their last day at the shelter before they'd be put down, and Claude the Cat was no exception. He was this fat Tabby with an attitude, let me tell ya! With a purr like rolling thunder and an appetite like a horse, he wormed his way deep into our hearts. Around 2 years ago, he got hurt real bad. Vet said it seemed like he'd been hit, or maybe ran over by a vehicle. But he was family, so we had everything done that needed doing to fix him. There were a few close calls, but he healed his wounds and came back strong. Prior to his accident, he'd always been an outdoor cat, only coming in to eat and sleep. After though, he was our #1 premier lap cat, and he re-forged even stronger bonds with us, his Humans.

So, while I am really, really sad that I lost my best furry friend today, I am also so very glad that we were able to give him another solid 5 years that he otherwise wouldn't have had. Love you, buddy.

So sorry... Really like what you said about getting an animal from a shelter, and what you said here...about being able to give him 5 more wonderful years, with a loving family...
