Graduating, what now

gun loaded with LIFE bullets pointed at my head bound to go off soon

ok well im graduating highschool in about a month or a little less. Im gonna miss it to be honest, but holy hell do i need to get the fuck out of here.

i am incredibly bored with this town, and now im at the point in my life where i gotta decide what to do.

either im goin to a community college plus getting a job and not changing much in my life
or
getting the fuck out of this town with whatever money i have left, my girl, and the rest of my sanity.

im scared to be honest though. leaving everything behind? man im bein told every minute about how important college is and how im not gonna end up goin if i dont go right away...lifes gonna suck etc.

man fuck all this cookie cutter life bullshit.
i dont wanna follow that life. i need to LIVE

idk basically i know what i have to do, its just a bit scary. im fuckin 18 leaving home with a girl that i love with my entire heart but have only known for a year or so, leaving everthing behind to start over.

im really exited... and am thinking Florida

holy rant

that little voice in your head that tells you what is right and wrong...

Turn it off for 3-5 years and see what happens...

This is story making time...

"Fuck work" wont get you anywhere. Not monetarily, not mentally.

"fuck work"

and

"im really exited... and am thinking Florida"

doesn't work. Jobs give you money. Money gives you freedom to do what you want. Just don't get a job that takes up all of your freedom, then you'll have money but be miserable.

Also, college is a fuckin blast. Will your rents pick up the tab?

Go to college, get a job, live your party years. Have great (protected) sex with nice girls, go out with friends, live the college life. Be smart.

Cause 10-15 years down the line you ll be 35 and that will require some cookie cutting job at some point and other more serious work and responsibility.

Dont waste your love energy on chicks who arent worth it. No matter how cute they think they are.

thats my quick advice to ya

good luck

Never fuck work, you will always NEED work whether youre excited about it or not. I'm in the same boat as you--except already living on my own AND cant find a job in this godforsaken town, I'm completely indecisive about what I want to do about college. No doubt in my mind that I want to go, I just have no clue what I'd be satisfied doing for a career, at all

college is the shit, and im pissed i didn't live the cookie cutter lifestyle for longer, i only did it for one year

if you don't go to college, you have to start working right away and it sucks.

go live i a dorm to get the full party experience, its the most fun you will ever have, srsly

then you can get a good job. and trust me, trying to get a job without school right now is looking shitty, and florida is one of the places hit hard.

Go to a community college for an associates degree. If after attaining that degree you still don't know what career PATH (doesn't have to be set in stone) then drop out until you do.
You know, love is a great thing and to be experienced by all, but damnit dude your 18 and moving away to a new state with just your girlfriend...well... thats going to put so much strain on the relationship that it could end badly. Just don't be delusional about it man. Their is no such thing as 'the one'.
Write down what you TRULY like doing , doesn't have to be a job title, and the things you dislike. Then write down what your good at and poor at. Then find out were the things you like and are good at start to match up. THEN think of something in your life that you would do for free if their was no stigma attached to it; be realistic though. Then set out a 2-3 year goal plan with goals every 3 months. Good luck.

I'm in the same boat pal, I was thinking about joining the air force seriously for a few months but I think I would regret it. IF i don't get an apprenticeship with the local electricians union im getting a degree from the local community college. lol. and commuting for the first year as well..

Stay out of debt and live free. Work when you want to. It's easy to budget out and know exactly how long you have to work and how much time you'll have free.

If college helps you get a job or be in a position that you want to be in then by all means. But don't let your head get slow, read books, atleast.

I don't think you have to except a cookie cutter life whole part and parcel. You can still used the same recipe as other people, job, partner, place to live/rent, go see movies, have a drink, whatever, nothing new under the sun type stuff, but that doesn't mean that you cookie has to look the same as everyone elses, know what I'm saying?

#1 if you don't want to work, stay out of debt and learn to live below your means. My wife and I have been doing it for years and for the last year we have both only been working minimally and had money for trips and savings and all that white picket stuff, but we did it all knowing that $15k was what we wanted to pull for.

Good luck, keep and open mind and learn to love change. Things that seem bad or hard at first can be the most rewarding times of our lives, based on what we take from those lessons.

Metta,
SageTree

your only two options in this world are go to college or join the military. if you join the military don't join the infantry like i did. it will get you nowhere in life, there isnt a need for an infantrymans skills in the 'real' world. work on planes or something that can get you employed in the civilian world. college is a very good option too but whatever you do, do it NOW. if you wait it will only get harder and your drive will diminish.

Cool so your graduating...what now?

Hmmm, dude the job market in florida is really, really bad, I know I just left it behind a month ago. do you have any job skills at all? I mean something that you can earn an honest living at so you can EAT FOOD, and buy clothes and pay for your own transportation, and don't forget insurance, in case you need a to see a dr...and the chick you love, does she have job skills, cause if you don't want togo to school and get some then you better already have some. Good luck wit dat..and don't make any babies just yet, 'cause man o man are they expensive!! Good luck!
