Smuggling
So when SWIM goes back to his home from university he wants to smuggle some weed back for some friends back home, you know? But to do so he needs to take two trains, one to London and then one home.. Big city, busy trains, expensive tickets..
Think he's likely to get searched? If so, can SWIM just say "No thanks" without getting kicked off? Perhaps this is silly, but I've been searched at airports and ferries before, I'm guessing trains do the same? Last edited by Player 2; 12-08-2009 at 04:39 AM. |

I traveled by train two summers ago from Germany to Amsterdam and back and was never searched. However my cousin was caught with weed and hash in the Netherlands on a train because the police had a dog who was able to smell it. I would not risk it you should be able to find it anywhere. They did let him off the hook after confiscating it. No big deal.

Based on the fact I have no fucking idea where you live this is what I have to say. You can take certain precautions to attempt to prevent getting caught, but nothing will get in the way of fate. It's your personal decision to risk it, you know the consequences, it's all you man. If you think it's worth it, go for it.

/\/\/\/\ That's pretty good advice right there. I don't know about nowadays. 35 yrs ago, I was regularly bringing weed to Chi-town from Tucson. Sometimes flying commercial airlines [0 security basically] or driving it...anywhere from 40 to 80 lbs.
Never thought twice about the driving aspect. No drug checkpoints back then...no seat-belt stops or DUI deals. Flying was a little more nerve-racking, but terrorism wasn't even a factor & had no close calls.

are you taking an international train?
I have travelled trough Belgium, Netherlands, france and some other european countries by train, I have only been searched on international trains. I used to take a separate backpack with just tshirts and other non-expensive stuff and my weed in it. And then I would place that backpack somewhere I can see it but not to close. So that when the police find the backpack I can say it is not mine. But be carefull that nobody sees you with it. So best to hide it inside your luggage untill you are on the train. hope this helps... good luck!

I think it's always good to keep these sorta things above board or off the boards really. This is exactly the shit I don't want to see on Google searches.

if you wanna keep it in a bag with you or even in stow away luggage buy a thing of peanut butter take half out put the double wrapped presents in, put the peanut butter back put some jelly and bread in there too to keep the "man" from getting curious. Tell them your going on a picnic or something man. Get creative maybe even super glue the seal back on the peanut butter jar somehow. Come to think of it I dont think peanut butter has seals.

i have never been searched on a train in europe, but i'd have to guess that it was because of the specific countries i rode trains in and not because trains don't have security. i traveled by train within the netherlands, and lots of trains in scandanavia(crossing borders but staying inside EEA/schengen), and also in the balkans. domestic/international/schengen crossings, i was never searched or saw a drug dog. lots of the borders in the balkans had passport confusion, but none of them had visible security detail searching people.
if you are staying in the schengen area your chances of problems are probably lower than if you had to leave/enter, but it also depends on what specific borders you are crossing. i brought weed and hash home from copenhagen (by boat) and amsterdam (by plane) without any issues, although the plane was a bit sketchy and i don't recommend it.
