My humanities teacher is insane. She's so specific about everything. She has a paragraph(or maybe more) on STAPLING your essay. that's just one example.

she put english grammar questions in our first quiz. is that allowed? she's expecting us to operate on an ENG 121 level. I mean it's no problem for me, but it could be for others. Is this something worth bitching about to the higher ups?

I mean she's literally preventing people from "learning" about what they should be learning in that class.

When I mean it's not a problem, I just mean that it's not going to be the deciding factor whether I get a good grade or not. It still bugs the hell out of me. I could still drop the class and get my money back, but then I'd be out 3 credits this semester and already bought 3 text books for the class. I'm not going to though because she's a fairly easy grader. She's super specific about shit, but her essays are only required to be 2 pages long. That's the only reason I don't care. If she made us write 5 page essays I'd be out of there in a second.

I'm definitely not going to complain about it, but I AM going to write a NASTY letter for her review mid semester. Yes, we get to take surveys about our teachers and the dean reads them. bahah

she made us bring our rough drafts today, previously stressing that it's for our own good, not for her.

well today comes around, she asks us to get them out. then she goes down a list asking who has theirs and who doesn't. she then gave us about 3 minutes to start reading and talking about each others. right away she starts talking about things in her packet about a) what we had already read to do the rough drafts in the first place b) what she's already talked about before.

then once she gets done with her speech there's 7 minutes left of the 75 minute class and she starts to watch this video we already started. 7 minutes would have been perfect to talk to each other about our papers or make notes.

so then once we start watching the video she tells some kid sitting behind me to sit up. a minute later with five minutes left in class i put my books in my backpack while she's fast forwarding/rewinding a tape. while she's doing it she says, "please don't pack up, lets sit here for five minutes." are you fucking kidding me woman? she thinks it's high school. i don't care though, i think it's kinda funny. she'll never teach at a university, and never could.

like i said, i'm on her good side. i'm just venting.

having a phd doesn't mean you have to know anything about teaching

basically when you get a shitty prof, its up to you to do everything you need to pass the course. welcome to post secondary education.
