Alright, so my best friend wants to kill himself, he told me so lastnight, I just about hit him in the mouth for saying it but then he went inside. I'm extremely concerned for the kid, and want to do the best I can to help him out, but have no idea how to do it, personally I think the first step is to get rid of his cunt girlfriend (she's one of them quit this for me or I'll leave you kinda girl, and Im quite sure its his first serious relationship), but don't want to say that because I told him she was a bitch and he didnt like that.
He is on some sort of depression medicine, I think its xanax or some shit, and that worries me, because anti-depressants usually do more bad then good.
I think he needs to start smoking weed again, he hasnt been the same kid since he quit (for his girlfriend).

as you tell it now, sounds like this kid needs to buck the fuck up. and maybe you should talk to him rather than blame his chick.

I dont know why he wants to kill himself, but lastnight he told me he started smoking cigerrettes because he wanted to kill himself, I knew the kid was depressed, I just didnt know how depressed he was, I've talked to his sister she says half the time he comes home crying after hanging out with his girlfriend, she hates her, I'm not a big fan either, so his girlfriend definately has something to do with it. I think he just isnt feeling life, I'd like to think its just a phase but its been going on to long. And I definately agree he needs to buck the fuck up.

def. sounds like he could use a therapist/shrink. could also be those meds he's taking. reminds me of all those crap commercials for all those anti-depressants the pharm companies are pushing on america. alot of them say something like "thoughts of suicide are rare and you should tell your doctor about them if you have these symptoms". might be a possibility. i hope he gets out of this funk before he hurts himself.

Man, this situation sucks. Talking to him definitely will help, but I agree with CanSeeme, he needs to see a shrink. Meds aren't always the answer and it does sound like they are hurting more than helping. Maybe if weed will help your friend feel happier then he should smoke but maybe it wont, who knows?

If you call 911 they can take him away to a hospital for help, should it get really serious.

Suicide is no joke.... so make it clear how much you are taking it for realz.... talk to someone FAST if you think its serious.

He's not taking the anti-depressants anymore. So I was hanging out with him yesterday, just chilling, I'm trying to talk to him, and he says I just hate life in general and want to end it, I ask why, and says I dont know, just everything, Im thinking wtf do I say to this? Its like he wants to talk about it (he always brings it up), but doesn't want to at the same time. And I dont think he is fucking around anymore, we were listening to some music, and this kid pulls out a fucking razor blade, and starts cutting his leg, and he shows me his wrist theres fucking cuts all over it, his legs as well, then he says "I've come pretty close a few times" (I took it away from him), like he is just waiting for that time that he does go to far and cuts deep, I dont like being that guy, but I think Im gonna call his mom today, and tell her about that, seems like the best thing to do.
He listens to some real fucked up music, like depressing stuff about break up and suicide.
Lol Roach he gets laid, just at the expense of no cigerrettes or weed.

All I'm saying is that suicide is no joke. And I'd rather just put it out there that if they are serious so am I. I think from there, if he knows you are taking him seriously, then perhaps he'll talk about what is really getting him down.

I don't think I'd try to get him in there just to scare him... that isn't my suggestion at all.

But as a person who has long at least half a dozen or better people in my life to suicide, I'm speaking from a place of wishing they had told me or talked about it before they decided to do it. That is a regret I don't want anyone to have to experience.

You know your friend. Be the gage here.

If he says he wants to kill himself take it seriously and talk to find out....
If he says he has an actual plan to kill himself....call someone.

I'm making no quips about it. This is someones life and if they are just depressed and wish they would die.... that is pretty different than saying suicide. Make sure he knows the difference.

Bullshit is saying you were going to hit your friend in the mouth when he told you. Bullshit is speaking about medicine you know nothing about. Bullshit is thinking weed cures everything. Bullshit is mentioning him listening to depressing music as if it has any bearing.

Honestly with what you've said it sounds a lot more like a cry for attention than it does suicide. Sounds like he's a bit fucked in the head though. I'll have to second sage's advice on this one.

StonerKid, Myxie is a health care professional in training... I wouldn't worry too much about him not meaning to help here. maybe he didn't have his Hemingway level turned up very high at that point of the day

I dunno if it's just cause I'm from New England, or cause I used to hang out with a lot of goth and emo chicks back in the day, but i feel like a quarter of everyone in high school these days is all deppressed some of the time and has tried cutting at least once. Honestly I feel like most of the time it's a call for attention. I know that sounds cold, but it's the truth. One good way to tell though is if he's cutting ACROSS his wrist he is not serious about trying to kill himself, you have to really open up the lengths of your veins to die and even then it takes a while to bleed out. I wouldn't tell him that of course just keep it under your hat.

Basically what I feel like is happening here is he thinks she likes him to be all dark and brooding, so that's the charecter he puts on. Cause honestly if this is the first time in his life he's getting laid regular he should be building up a lot of testosterone which helps fight depression. Or maybe she's not giving it up. I dunno.
