My girlfriend and I have decided that we want to move to a state that allows medical marijuana so we both have the ability to be treated for our respective ailments. At the moment, our best idea has been Washington state, about 2 hours from the British Columbia border.
Anywho, I am most concerned about my career. I will most likely start out there as an A&P mechanic (aircraft) but from what I have been told by most companies I have talked to about the issue, none of the current aircraft companies in the United States honor medical marijuana, meaning I would be gone fast because most drug test every employee on a monthly basis. This is bringing up a lot of questions, and I have decide between medication or a job. Here are some questions I have and thanks to anyone who can offer insight. All these questions refer to the legal medical use of marijuana. Assume in every case that I had paperwork to present saying I was legal. 1) The FAA does it's drug test in accordance with the department of transportation. Since that is state and not federally regulated and in a state that allows medical marijuana, would I have a fighting chance of keeping my job if I was drug tested? 2) Can you be fired from a state job (DOT, court system, etc) while being legally medicated within that state? 3) If you are fired from a job for using medical marijuana while in a state that allows it, are you eligible for unemployment from that state's department of labor? 4) I realize that for me to be medicated, I may have to throw away hundreds of thousands of dollars and years in training to find a job that would allow me to medicate. Is there any sort of list or organization that assist in the employment of MMJ patients? The only jobs I can find that don't drug test with a zero tolerance policy are usually places that pay less than $10/hour. I'm not 17 and looking for a way to keep my pot stash supplied, I have a family to support, lol. 5) And finally, this is an open invitation for sound advice. We are in our mid 20's and have been struggling with the economy recently. This decision is going to be a very big breaking point in my life that will have a lot to do with determining our happiness and physical well being. We are both scared, but we can't decide if we are more scared to be unemployed or to medicate. If anyone could help me, I would be more than grateful. I'm sure I've forgotten something, but the joy of having a thread is I can always update! If it is any help, I was honorably discharged from the Marines, I had 2 combat tours, and receive disability as a direct result. I know a lot of states help hire disabled vets find work, but I haven't heard of anything regarding MMJ use.

I live in FL and me and my wife are about the same age as you and we have one kid. We are thinking of moving to CO not just for MM but the weather, etc. I work in human resources so I only do quest dts and substituting is the way to go hands down (if you are not being watched).
You have to ask yourself if it is worth it. I love smoking weed but if i had to quit, I would to support my family. One thing you can try is spice. It really is a great alternative and if you get the right kind(mr nice guy) you will be surprised. Anyways goodluck on your adventure through life but you have a family and there are other ways to medicate. |

Federal law says pot is illegal, therefore FAA, DOT and other such jobs follow federal mandate and are zero tolerance to boot, you can't even think about being impaired
As for other jobs, please note the legality of marijuana has never been an issue, it's private insurance companies who provide workmans comp insurance which is mandatory that ask for drug tests from their clients employees and give discounts for those who have a 'clean' work force. So really marijuana is targeted specifically since it remains in the body for some time and there is no way to tell if you are actually under the influence and that makes you a liability in the insurance world and that is one thing insurance companies don't want. In fact, they want you to work your shift, go next door and sit in your box for 16 hours until your next shift. If you are a pot smoker in America, know this. Even though the will of the people will be heard, the will of Insurecorp will be what is adhered to.

Then can someone link me a good piss apparatus?
Edit: And another thing. If I get my MMJ card but continue to work with the FFA but passing my piss tests with a fake penis, would there be any sort of list my name would be on for marijuana users that my employer could find?

don't fuck with your career dude, just quit smoking if it's that big of a deal and take it up when you can.
as of right now, no, I don't think they could find out. but there's nothing to say in the future that couldn't change. |

I'm not smoking solely for the enjoyment of being high, I smoke to be able not to hack, dry heave, and vomit all the time. I don't live in a state that allows MMJ at the moment, and am only considering moving because of MMJ.

Hey man, lemme just say thanks for your service in the Marines. Mad respect, bro.
As for jobs that are MMJ friendly, family owned businesses are a good bet since they rarely DT. Also, if you're just gonna be UA'd for some of these jobs, just get familiar with them fake urine systems. I know some folks working in the oil fields who keep some powdered urine in their lunch box because if theres an injury on site, nobody leaves till the whole crew gets tested. Best of luck though, the Pac. NW is a beautiful place.

Getting caught falsifying a DOT test is a bit more serious than 'you don't work here any more' son. You need to find an approved chemical that has paid its research dues and is accepted by Pharmacorp as okay and leave the evil, natural remedies to the Indians and brown folk who haven't paid... It's about the money, nothing more.

I know all that natural detox stuff doesnt work, I just need referred to a good product that has a lot of good reviews and success stories. Most drug tests I've ever taken didn't have a person staring directly at my junk, so I'm not extremely worried as long as the product passes as piss.

Personally I use AgentX but that's because I can get it at the local head shop. Premixed with a shelf life of at least two years, complete with squeeze bottle, hand warmer packet and thermo strip.
Our illustrious host has a few products of their own they like to hawk, give 'em a look see...

Go self employed. Drug test your employees. Hire the ones that test positive for mj.
