Depressing and degrading

Went grocery shopping today.

At the food pantry. It wouldn't be as degrading if it wasnt so fucking necessary.

Can't even supply for wife and daughter. Awesome.

Not sure exactly what you're looking for reply wise.
So I hope what I say is okay....

Not sure what has you on hard times, but I hope it passes quickly for you all's sake, and for yours so that you can see yourself as a provider in a way you see fitting.

Letting them go hungry from pride would no doubt be worse physically for all of you, and I'm sure would weight harder on your mind.

I think you going to the pantry IS supplying your wife and child.
It's there to help people get through tough times.
You have a family to feed and you are doing what you have to do to take care of them.
That is honourable and honest.
You aren't robbing bank etc etc...

I'd think it'd be more degrading if you didn't need it and were just taking advantage of the system in a devious way.

Again, not sure what or where your budget issues are and hope you'll address them, or at least mention some short comings so some more input can be added if that is what you need.

If you need some recipes for cheap, filling and satisfying meals lemme know.

i have to make it with a garden, my dad has to make it by taking his boat out for crab and digging clams on the beach.

it's time to waterboard bernanke.. this inflation is making my life difficult too. im almost always hungry, and my work is very physical so i have to eat a lot.

we need to end the private fed and restore sound money, no fiat, backed by gold and silver. like the constitution says.

They won't give me food stamps.

I was receiving food stamps. then I got a raise. And my rent went up. I actually ended up the same financially as the raise in rent and wages were pretty much exactly the same.

But they didn't care. they say the bump in wage and told me no.

And I only got half of the raise I was supposed to in the first place.

Its degrading because I shouldn't be here. I should be succeeding. I'm doing everything legit. Im working full time, I'm going to school. I married my pregnant girlfriend, and have always been 100% loyal. I'm busting my ass for what? Jack shit. Work is getting worse and worse and I'm working harder and harder for what? nothing. So i can go stand in line for some free food.

It is immensely irritating.

A huge portion of the world's population works every day from sunrise to sunset and they still have dirt floors. they would probably work later, but they don't have electricity.

If you have a yard I'd suggest doing some gardening, my wife and I do that to add to our food supply.

You can do a LOT with Lentils and Rice for pennies.
Save your vegetable peelings to use as broth.

I understand counting blessings, no doubt seeing the positive helps sustain us mentally.
But understand that doesn't put food on the table, which sustains physically.
And to me what I see in your statement is sorta saying 'be thankful and shut up'.

Trade out whenever you can as well, this weekend coming up I will be utilizing my skills as a Mazda Miata mechanic and doing a timing belt/water pump job for a guy who has a top he doesn't need anymore...

A lot of folks have things/services they would like to sell for money to buy other things/services, why not eliminate the middle man, offer to paint the butcher shop for some meat. I bet he throws away a lot of product he couldn't sell in order to get the money to paint his place, I'd paint for a filet mignon or six.

Let the rich people fight over the paper and status and the rest of us serfs need to get back to dealing with each other.

Living that day to day struggle just for the basics is rough indeed.

What are you going to school for? Hopefully something with a decent job market after you graduate.

Times are rough but stick with it mang, you'll be fine if you stay determined. Live completely for your daughter if you have to.
