I worry that this a trend and will it ever be stopped?

There have been other post on how companies are doing folks now days, treating everyone like shit, more work, faster, less pay etc... Now I am starting to see a lot of fallout and wonder if other folks are seeing the same, and when if ever is anyone going to do something about it... meaning mostly, will people ever quit being the sheep we are in the US and stand up to this BS?
I had another post where a close neighbor died recently from a heart attack, possibly from job stress, now I have learned another guy, mid 40's also died from a heart attack, working at the same place. This last week on my job, there was one employee that had been written up, ass chewed etc... that requested a meeting with the sup, HR and GM about same ass chewing, I'm sure it didn't turn out well from what I am seeing of this guy's emotional state lately. Then we learned 2 people were fired last week, not meeting the numbers, same old shit.....Then Friday, a guy I work with, gonna turn 52 in a couple of weeks, was told come to the conference room by the sup at 4:50pm. I smelled a rat right off, usually when they chew someone's ass, they call you in there at 4:30.... They fired this guy for not meeting the numbers... He had been there 3 yrs, has a disabled wife and a teenage daughter. Dude broke down, cried, as the sup was escorting him out the door, in front of us all, it broke my heart.... these fucking scum bags! We got a new GM and sup in 2009 and since then we have been forced to crosstrain for 6 different jobs and if you don't "change tasks" as often as they like, or keep up the numbers they fuck with you and fire you. We have to initial every fucking thing and someone goes behind us and counts the initials... and yours had better be up there with everyone else's. It's all about fucking greed and I am so sick of it.... they want five people to do eight people's job's, so they don't have to hire more worker's and that's money in there pocket. They have fucked with our pay, and made so called "bonuses" pretty much impossible. We already know we are paid below industry standard, so the :bonuses" just put us up to standard, when we used to get them. The damn GM is a big wheel from FedEx and is part owner in the company, that's the way they work it. When we had our pay cut in 2009, the sorry SOB is gonna brag, really, about how he needs money too, he has 3 mortgages! Oh! hell! your in a damn hurt aren't you!!? I would give anything to bust his ass in the mouth one time!!
My sister has also stated, her main concern is the same thing happening to her husband. He has worked 12 hours a day, six days a week since May, because his company got rid of some folks and made them take up the slack. I worry about this for myself, as I find myself being stressed all the time, and on top of it, I have an hour drive to work every day, which isn't exactly relaxing...... I pray every night and every morning when I get up, to please let me find something better.... before I lose it and let these mf's know what a Marine's rage is really like......Like Hulk from the tv series used to say, and I also heard in an recent Ozzy song, "you won't like me when I'm angry" and I mean, if I lose it on their ass, the cops will be called, I know this for sure......my wife even told me the other day, "If that !@#$% sup fires you, I know someone to call to get you out of jail.... I have never been in jail in my life....but I can't stand anymore, I won't take anymore.......and I worry about the other people dealing with this same BS. How long is it going to keep going on, before people have had enough?

I wish I could say something to help you feel better, but I can't.

I see this happening all over. It's totally crazy, because it 100% about the money and 0% about human lives, the US, or anything else. We are a commodity to these corporations, to be thrown out when we are no longer of use.

I saw a chart that said the American worker is more productive now than ever before. I'll try to dig that up and post it.

As to when will the revolt happen? I personally think it's a long way off. We Americans still have a long way to go before before we start dropping dead like flies because we didn't have enough money to pay for care or food.

The time is ripe for unions to become powerful again.

People have had enough long ago, but from what I'm gathering, the majority who step out of line lose their job and that's the end of it. It's a really hard time to get a job of equal or lesser value to what you have now.
And as for the union thing - unions mean less now than they ever did. Unions aren't looking out for people like they were designed to.

Unions are still looking out for people. IBEW in my hometown just saved everyones pensions and 401k which were going to be cut. I think it's some kind of myth that they're ineffective. The thing is that they're not naturally perfect systems and need to be worked on, but they're just being discredited and abandoned. It's a shame.

I get sick of my jobs bullshit. Mostly I'm just sick of being sweated by the owner all the time. He's half playing half serious but he's always giving me shit and it's fucking annoying. Especially when he has people in the company robbing him blind, that get special treatment because they're family.

Some kind of myth? There are people all over this country who are getting screwed monumentally by their reps. I'm not saying they're all shit, but it's something that shouldn't ever be shit when people are depending on them for help.

You can't change the company, or the work environment. You can look for another job. They're harder to find than they once were, but not impossible. All you can do is ask the right questions at your interviews to be sure that the person you'll be working for is someone who knows what they're doing, and that you can respect. No guarantees there, but don't take anything when you're fairly sure it's a poorly run company, or the guy's an asshole. Usually, it's lack of planning and management talent that leads to overworked, hostile environments.

As for the bigger question of changing the world, that's a good one. I'm of the opinion that it won't change until it collapses, and we can start over. Not too optimistic, I know.

If you want to change the world then change yourself. It's the man in the mirror effect. Good and evil are in every choice you make and if you choose to do the righteous thing EVERY TIME then you'll have nothing to be afraid of, knowing that you yourself are a champion of greatness.

I blame children's TV for giving impressionable minds the idea that the world is a nice place filled with sunshine, lollipops and racial equality.

Then people should be filing charges against their reps. Union reps can only do what the labor laws allow and anything less shouldn't be tolerated.

Labor laws allow reps to make shitty bargains because it's the lesser of two evils. Labor laws allow a lot of bullshit malarky that fucks over the people that are actually working. That's what the US is founded on.

I believe we're talking about union reps. Union reps have bosses. I've been involved in getting a local rep removed for misrepresentation.

Labor laws allow union reps to bargain, whether they get shitty deals has nothing ro do with labor laws. I don't know what union you belong to but I've never been involved in a union that didn't have membership input when it came time for contract talks. Your dues pay their wages, they'd better be listening because you do have recourse.

my experience has been you're much better off with union representation then without it, but there just isn't that many private sector union jobs anymore..the best thing anyone can do is avoid accumulating debt if you want to have some independence in your life
