How far would you go for a family member?

The song goes: Aint No Mountain High Enough, Aint No Valley Low Enough, Aint No River Wide Enough To Keep Me From Getting To You.......

But really, how far would you go in a certain circumstance for your beloved family?

My dilemma is that my sister is getting married in to a man in Los Angeles, which is about 1,000 miles away from where I live (and where we grew up). The man lives there, the wedding will be there and she will live there.

She wants the entire family to fly in for her wedding.

The problem is that the family has been put in a precarious position because we all have demanding jobs and school and other obligations in our home state. Some of us are having a hard time telling our favorite bride-to-be that she is guilt tripping us into a major inconvenience. It's not that we don't want to be there for her wedding - we really do - but for a dozen people at once to drop everything and fly 1,000 miles for a couple days is asking quite a lot.... isn't it?

When it comes to something important, I'd go to the end of the earth.

For some dumb shit like a wedding.. well I'd certainly make an effort, but I'm not gonna lose a job or be late on the rent over it.

Ouch that is a tough place to me in. I don't think their is anything wrong with her asking you guys, but she also needs to be understanding. You can only do so much. I would probable be able to make it, but that's just because my job is flexible.

Adventure's right. I'd actually try hard to get there. Weddings aren't dumb.

I wouldn't put my job at risk, or spend money I didn't have. Anyone who expects you to do that isn't worth the sacrifice.
