change everything
there isn't a day that goes by that I don't get a desire to drop everything and just go
where or for what, I don't know, but I've always got this urge to gtfo but I'm too scared to act on it or something I don't know why I've got nowt keeping me here, no real friends, no relationship, I don't speak with my family but a few times a week. I'm just too scared to leave my comfort zone which is ironic because my comfort zone is strangling me.

maybe try getting away for just a few days and if you feel scared still, head back.
gotta hop out of the nest and test out those wings before you can fly excuse the extreme cliche

For me to force myself out of that comfort zone, I had to put myself in a situation where I had no choice but to either sink or swim. You're a level-headed dude bearsy, so I no doubt know you'd be able to swim if you were in that scenario. From one dude who falls into comfort zones way too easily to another, I think this is the type of reality you're going to need to accept. Gradually trying to work your way out of the zone is very very difficult, and usually short-lived. Obviously, the sink-or-swim situation has to be somewhat within reason while still being 'out there' enough to remove you from the comfort zone. Finding the specific situation that you would be willing to throw yourself into is the tough part, but I think you've already got a few ideas you could work with. In any case, if you don't make the decision yourself you'll more than likely reach the breaking point anyway. I did in October, and it's why I'm going to be in Korea in just under two months. Don't worry about time, time is irrelevant. The fact that you understand your situation means you're miles ahead of anyone else who simply accepts it and quits. Cultivate those feelings bearsy, I think you'll be able to surprise yourself.

Life is about expanding comfort zones. Everything good is the result of taking a risk. Everything shitty (at least here in the developed world where you have ample opportunity for yourself) is the result of people limiting themselves and being too afraid to take those risks or not believing they are ABLE to take those risks. Take a risk man! "Freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose"

i highly reccomend wwoofing (in america or abroad). i had a friend that lived in a yurt on a farm in pennsylvania for a year or so, in exchange for labor you get a living situation and food (and you also get some nice experiences and meet nice people), i also did wwoofing in italy and that was probably the best experience of my life but obsviously it costs money to get there and is daunting to do alone. take some time out for yourself and figure out what makes you happy, once you realize what makes you happy life is so much easier. otherwise, try to find happiness in your life as it is now by realizing its not that bad and look on the positive side. happiness is just a state of mind after all.
it does help to move to a new place, preferably go somewhere cheap and save money. change your lifestyle. take this time to learn something new. go to the library and read some books, take a walk outside, take a bike ride, start running, challenge yourself. in terms of unhappiness and depression, idle time is your worst enemy. Im guilty of this too, but spend less time on the computer and watching tv. and if nothing else, realize your not alone, plenty people feel the way you do. life is a challenge most of the time.

I'm leaning pretty heavily towards BC. Not sure what city to go to.
Vancouver seems a bit big, but maybe that's what I need. I thought of WWOOFing before, and that's still an option, but physically I don't know if I'm up for it quite yet.

Seriously it is man, it's safe in my experience.... good stuff.
I hope you sign up. Quote:
Don't worry about being fit, once you start you'll get there quicker than you think. BC is an amazing place. If you can't go big I know there is plenty of chances for things like that locally back east as well. Once the awareness is created Bearman, you are already ON the road, ya know?

The only 100% missed shot is the one not taken.
Gotta figure it out and get up, Bearzie. What are you doing today to do what you want tomorrow?

WWOOF sounds like something I might want. I've never heard of such a thing but it is exactly the kind of thing I've been dreaming of to get back to MN or the midwest.
I can't even find work here and want to just GTFO. I'm going to sign up and see if I can contact some people for more info. I'll get back to you guys on this. If it works I won't be on here much more. |

Hawaii has a shitload of WWOOF opportunities, the people are all really nice.
As far as worrying about hard labor, the bar isn't exactly very high
