Me too, it really feels good to control something for once. It's giving me the inspiration to make other positive changes. Congrats to all those who have quit, or are quitting.

Wow my last post was around January in here. I had a relapse about Marchish. I stopped again in August, I was pretty disappointed in myself. But, things happen and all and I really feel like I'm done for good now. Oddly enough I feel kind of worse physically, I don't know maybe its just mental. Hope you are still doing the damn thing Mescal and hope all the best for you. Hang in there man...also reading over this thread again while I was going through quitting again really helped. Thanks people.

Yeah.. still going strong. It's just coming up to one month that I'm ciggy free! Feeling good about it. I'm lifting weights and turning all these extra calories I'm getting into hardcore muscle yo. I also go for walks with my little boy in his buggy everyday.

I still get the occasional 'pang'.. well.. more just a thought about cigs. I was wondering if if ever really goes away. It certainly has gotten less and less common to think of having one.. and it's also super easy to mentally say no.. just say no... heh. I have to say that the biggest part of the addiction for me to have broken is the just smoking out of boredom/drinking smoking. The chemical addiction (if you can even break it up like that) was pretty easy to break.

To anyone who is thinking of quitting.. fooking go for it and keep it up! I tried several times but managed it in the end.

Peace yo.

Well Done

I stopped around '95 and I still do it one day at a time, I do find that bud helps to stay stopped - well done for giving up on suicide doods

what helped me the most was probably moving from a place i could smoke inside, to a place i couldnt. Plus i dont live in thailand so it is freaking cold outside here sometimes and that is usually enough to snuff out the craving once it pops up.

the thing that brings about the craving the most for me is probably movies where the character smokes.
i was watching some korean film the other day, and everyone was constantly smoking and looking cool doing it since it is a movie, and it just looked so relaxing and perfect lol. Ive kinda been dying for a smoke ever since. Luckily it is like 0c/32f out..

You'd probably look cool smoking a cig lol especially in a leather jacket n maybe riding a tiger. Cigs are dirty cheap in Thailand one of the few places I have ever bought a pack for myself. Felt silly bumping them from people when it was sooo cheap. Couldn't finish it tho.

Anyways keep at it if you want to quit!!!!! But if you are gonna smoke you should enjoy them.

Srsly tho don't do it

You should feel silly bumping them all the time, I never understood that philosophy

I don't mind spending ~ $2 on a product I'll only use about 20% of. I don't want to spend $6 if I'll only use 20%.

Cigs really don't do it for me anymore even when I get super fucked up. I can enjoy a good E cig flavor when I'm out.

Ya I know people who always bummed smokes.. They always claimed to be "social smokers" who never had smokes, but were always out being "social".
I kinda looked at them as bums who weren't bums.

How's it going Turm? and everyone else!?

I had three smokes at the beach this last weekend.. just for the hell of it. Kinda pointless in retrospect but I'm still a non-smoker. I guess I should play it careful though.. it's really easy to fall back into if you are really blasé about it.

Being a non-smoker means never smoking. To "still" be one, you would have had to refrain from smoking those 3 pointless cigarettes. I'll be a dick here because I played the same bullshit game for 20 years. You either smoke or you don't. Choose.

Quitting cigs is mostly psychological. You're not really getting that much nicotine vs dipping/chewing.

Im not a smoker, nor am i a non-smoker though.
ill have a smoke once in a blue moon, but by no means habitually smoke.

So i think Mesc could still be "not a smoker", but i agree that he cannot be a "non-smoker".
