I used to when my resume was shit, but now it's pretty good with solid references so there's no need for me at least.

I've never had to lie on a resume thank God for that. My current job i didn't even need one. There wasn't even an interview. I just came in because someone referred me and i got the job after a piss test. It's construction though so i guess it's a different story.

I and a few others exposed a huge security flaw [Easily leakable Personal Credit Info, Healthcare info, SS numbers, etc...]from this multi-million dollar vendor the CTO recently signed contracts with, and we all got canned so he could cover his ass to the CEO. The CTO also didn't like our idea to begin with and kept shooting it down no matter how awesome everyone else saw it.

We've lawyered up and exposing it directly to the client base, and because of our valuable skill sets we've all found much better jobs within 3 weeks. It's like coming out of an abusive relationship, you don't know how bad it was until you're out of it and onto something better.

As for the VR idea, there's still plenty of incubators to hit up as we keep fleshing out our vision.

Honestly Sir-Ex has the right idea. You can send your resume to a million people, but the ones that count are the ones that give you an interview. This is where you need to kill it.

I read a lot so I have gotten very good at this whole new-wave meme where interviewers ask you shit like "can you think of a time you disagreed with a manager, and what did you do?" I can literally spin stories for every one of these questions on the fly. I think once back in the day I made up a whole story that was literally an Office Space reference and I ended up getting that job.

As Demosthenes said: delivery, delivery, delivery. That's not only how you win arguments but how you also get jobs.

The resume/CV is meant to get the interview, not the job.

Curious how you're handling (planning to handle) rendering the cutting of flesh?

Fluid dynamics and soft body tissue is the biggest challenge, but we were looking into these Unreal* plugins Tendr [not the gay app] and Impact Deformable in Unity. Otherwise it was a heavily modified cloth component.

A job interview is a two-way street. You want to make sure the company is as good for you as you are for them. I turned down two other job offers with signing bonuses and counteroffers when I told them I was taking the cybersecurity job. On my first boss interview once i got past HR, I checked out his Facebook and LinkedIn profiles. His first sentence was "I'm basically trying to see if you're a liar or not." Right then and there I wanted to work there.

Then we got into the technical stuff, and I was just as impressed with him as he was with me.

so.. i'm okay to lie or what?

personally i feel at this point in my career, i can get any job i am interviewed for. aside from the need to be level with all the competition who lies on their resume, i am not sure it offers me an advantage. i don't want to compromise my honesty, i think it is one of my big hire-able qualities.

one huge problem i have with job searching is when companies ghost you either completely or after confirming they received your application. the way i try to think about it is that i wouldn't want to work for those companies anyway... but it sure is a hell of a lot of companies that do it.

If you don't need to lie to be competitive, there's no point. A good boss will be able to weed out the liars anyway, especially the shitty liars.

But, if you do have holes/issues in your resume/CV, well then fake it til you make it. Just make sure they are solid tales and have a basic knowledge of what the hiring manager is looking for.

Also, i had a webby-nominated web developer friend redesign my resume so it looks fan-fucking-tastic compared to the usual word/pdf doc.

If you have any graphic designer friends, hit them up!

Rather not blast it out for everyone cuz it obviously has a lot of personal info and i'm in an IT security gig now.

But if you PM nicely depending on who you are i might give you a peek.
