there is no such thing as a perscription
the way the law works, here in oregon, a doctor signs an application that proves you've been diagnosed with one of the qualifying conditions. the doctor is merely saying you have one of the conditions. i have epilepsy, 60 percent of the cards in oregon are for chronic pain. its safer than asprin and as long as you use a vaporizer its totally safe. over 12000 people in oregonhave cards and over 1200 doctors have signed cards. |

My ex-roommate was bipolar, smoking weed helped him a lot. He was almost normal when he smoked, he was annoying as fuck to be around when sober.

![]() Does anyone have any knowledge of what effect marijuana has on the medication Symbyax a strong medication for bipolar disorder bongsmilie Plus, are there any people who know of or have the disorder that currently smoke & what effect being stoned has on them. Does it help them focus or make it worse therefore going into a maniac period. Any help I can get here would be really great. Thank you

You can use Marijuana as an anti depressant, at least I do, It has anti depressant qualities to it, as well as a mild psychedelic effect. You could use it to induce a better mood, but it's also illiegal, which can in itself cause anxiety, or be a factor contributing to the anxiety you already have.

I'm not a big fan of medical marijuana. It isn't 1 step closer to it being totally legalized. Seems most medical users just want it legal for themselves, and are perfectly fine with recreational users getting arrested. And some people are prescribed it for things that are questionable. I could say I need it medically for depression or headaches. As far as the medical houses in CA getting raided - don't be so flagrant. If I wasn't careful I would be sitting in jail right now. You do not have my sympathy. Either it should be legalized 100% or we all have to play by the same rules.

I've been tokin since 1969 as a recreational user. About 10 yrs ago, I was diagnosed with spinal-stenosis & weed helps alleviate the pain. Sadly, though, I live in the Bible-Belt & medical MJ isn't even an option here. My pain management doc loads me up on methadone, but also has no problem with my weed use. He's told me that if this State ever went 'medical MJ', he'd scrip me out in a second. Fortunately, I know 3 growers who comp me a bunch of assorted strains & flavors & I have enough weed to last me years. I agree that we should ALL be allowed the benefits of cannabis, but just because the fucked-up govt doesn't see it that way is not the fault of the medical-users. They just happened to be living in the right place at the right time. I've been waiting for outright Legalization since certain States started decriminalizing in 1974. I was living in Denver at the time & CO made 'under 1 oz = $25 citation'. I knew for sure we'd be buying weed in liquor stores by 1980. Then Nancy Reagan came along with her "Just Say No" horseshit & that set us back 50 yrs. Now at age 54, I highly doubt I'll live to see the day of outright Legalization. I had such high hopes [pardon the pun] of being able to purchase weed legally in a liquor store 1 day. Now? I'll be dead before this govt sees the light.

I never said it was the fault of medical users. I have heard several MM advocates say they don't want to see it legalized for recreation, then they want sympathy when they get raided by the DEA. Who are they to say they have a right to smoke for a physical condition and I can't for winding down after work or depression? To appeal to mainstream, maybe that's how they have to word it, but not all MM users are cases where it is absolutely necessary to save their lives. I hate seeing MM houses raided, but no more than the average Joe getting busted. We all have to pay for it. God gave it to us for anyone to smoke, so MM users who say only they have the right and then get busted for flagrantly running an MM shop deserve to go to jail more than I do. It is hypocritical.

Let's try and keep this thread on topic.
This thread isn't a debate on whether you like the facts of MMJ or not. IT IS, however to... Quote:
