Certain odors, not your blood type, like sweat and perfume are a strong lure for mosquitoes.

Scientists have found that drinking beer or eating Limburger cheese will make a person more attractive to mosquitoes!!

I'm pretty sure mosquitos zero in on your CO2 emissions. I get bit all the time but never end up with a bump or itchiness, it's weird.

For Gout:

Screw Rx Allopurinol and Indomethecin. Colchicum (Autumn Crocus) extract from your local herb store for around 7 bucks works great. Important: Use as directed by a trusted, local herbalist.

Cherries and celery seed help flush uric acid from your system.

Real medicine is in the plants.

PG it's crazy that you said that about the green bananas for the ulcer because whenever my stomache feels raw I am drawn to unripe bananas, and everyone in my family thinks its weird.

Herbal Cough Drops

1. Make up a very strong tea of the following:
5 parts Horehound
2 parts Thyme
1 part Spearmint
1 part Peppermint
1 part Lemon Balm
1 part Rose Hips
(Optional: 10 drops peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, or both.)

2. Strain out the herb bits and put the tea in a large pan.

3. Add 2 ½ cups of sugar and 1 tbsp butter and bring to a boil on the stove.

4. During the boil, cover for about 3 minutes so the steam can wash down crystals on the sides of the pot. Then uncover and cook at high heat, without stirring, to the hard-crack stage, which is 300 degrees. (You'll need a candy thermometer or some other thermometer for this part.) The syrup should be separating into threads that are hard and brittle.

5. Have a greased marble or ceramic slab or large plate ready. Pour a little onto the plate, cut it with scissors as it cools, and roll the bits quickly into balls. Keep the rest of the pot going over low heat as you use it. Work fast; this is best done with several pairs of hands and a few greased plates.

6. Wrap the cough drops in small pieces of wax paper and store in a cool place in a sealed jar. If you pile them all together without separating them, they may fuse into one giant cough drop that must then be chipped out of the jar. Take as needed for colds and coughs.

Anyone sniffed some Hawthorn Blossoms lately???

Inhaling the Blossoms have and are still used for blood circulation to and from the heart!!

Quote:
The Hawthorn contains Amyddalin; its bark, the alkaloid Crataegin, which is isolated in gray-white crystals that are bitter in taste and soluble in water.

The Hawthorn has been used as a sedative, an anti-spasmodic and a diuretic, and is a natural regulator of arterial blood pressure. Known as “Valerian of the Heart”, the Hawthorn was most valued as a heart stimulant. As such it was mainly used as a cardiac tonic in functional heart troubles. As a useful diuretic, it was used in dropsy and in kidney troubles.

The flowers and berries are astringent and useful in decoctions to cure sore throats.

The leaves have been used as an adulterant for tea, and an excellent liqueur brandy is made from its berries.

Fiddleheads......... ~

Unlike spinach, fiddleheads contain this EPA omega-3 fatty acid, as well as high concentrations of antioxidants. Both omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which could make them very useful in the treatment and prevention of many diseases.

American Indians seem to have harvested the plant while it was in flower, taking the whole plant. They used the plants in a bath for the treatment of tuberculosis. Early settlers, probably taking cues from the natives, put fevered children in a similar bath. It's unclear if this did much good. Indians also thought the plant a useful contraceptive.

The two alkaloids, berberine and coptine, as its primary agents of unstandardized virtue. Equal parts of goldthread and goldenseal, made into a decoction, with elixir vitriol added in proper quantity, was said to permanently destroy the appetite for alcoholic beverages.
Goldthread has traditionally been used for mouth sores and thrush,

This strong bitter has also been used for a variety of digestive disorders, worms, jaundice, and as a so-called blood purifier.

The simplest way to use goldthread is to chew the fresh root. This is effective for canker sores and mouth ulcerations. Goldthread is more commonly used in tea or in tincture form. Both preparations can be made with fresh or dried plant material. One tablespoon of fresh finely chopped root (or one teaspoon of dried root) per cup of boiling water simmered for 20 minutes makes an effective decoction. This tea can then be gargled for mouth sores or applied frequently for thrush. It can also be taken internally as a bitter tonic, 1 tablespoon 3-6 times a day for an average adult, for chronic stomach inflammation or digestive problems.

Finally, they use a special type of dodder for treating spider bites.

I am not sure about the beer part! I drink 2-4 beers a day on average, and I am never bothered by mosquitoes.
It also might be that I do not have a histamine reaction to the bite.

red vinegar is good for athletes foot

the chemical that makes onions and garlic stink and irritate your eyes kills the fungus, but that seems impractical to use.
