Joining the 21st century
I have a friend of a friend who was put on methadone about 6 years ago for multiple addictions. This person, unlike most of us that wind up on the program has no criminal record and wants to return to her home country. She went to a place that is providing marijuana,in capsule form, while she was being brought down off the methadone. Not only did she sleep through most of the withdrawal, she is still sleeping after quitting at 13 mgms.I gave her 3 days and she was in some discomfort for 4 but she came through it and is now able to travel anywhere she wants.I am on opiates for serious back pain and the only thing that puts me to sleep is a toke before bedtime.I have no idea how the people she gets her pot from got a federal exemption or even if they did. We're in a singularly unique position here now as a judge has ruled federal drug laws unconstitutional.I thought it would be a good time to reopen the NAOMI program but my missives went unanswered.I understand the capsules come in 30 &100 mgm strength although how that is arrived at I have no idea.I looked at one and it looked like some primo bud put in a capsule. The point is that,at least for this one person, marijuana helped with what is usually one of the worst and most drawn out withdrawals on the planet. My friend took a few of the capsules and said it made her dizzy. So much for the claim that it didn't get you high.If you are stuck on methadone and want to take a shot at getting off with no real symptoms, give this a try.The capsules were 00 and were filled with really sticky bud.The person in question went from 75mgms to 0 in about 2 months. She wanted to quit very badly and I don't think she was on heroin very long. She had been on methadone for 6 years. It's all in the person and the willpower. If you don't want or are not ready to quit it won't work. This is no magic bullet.People have been trying pot for withdrawal forever. This is for methadone and you have to swallow it.The program is available in Vancouver,B.C.

Cannabis was one of the most popular ways of breaking addiction to opiates and alcohol. Sometimes the old ways are best.

Interesting stuff. I have been addicted to opiates and while marijuana helps its not close to a cure. I'm glad I didn't go the methadone road. Suboxen is a great way to wean down and then jump off. There is no magic bullet but I've gotten down to 1mg a day with no problem. Would have been tougher if not for weed. The weed really helps with the sleep and appetite. Plus it takes away the Mother F king boredom.

Suboxone,is that the same as Ibogaine? They are always coming up with these miracle cures and they usually wind up on the shelf.William S Burroughs was convinced that the answer was apomorphine. He swears by it (if he's still alive). Many of these drugs claim to eliminate the need for opiates and some claim to block the high for extended periods of time,up to a year.I hear that Ibogaine is a cure. Then again, how many addicts would enter a program that says it will eliminate the craving forever? The people I know that have quit opiates are almost all addicted to something else,be it food, alcohol, the computer, making money or just going to meetings. They are almost all dysfunctional in some way.I assume you are on 1mgm of suboxone.I have seen people going in to drink 3 mgms of methadone but it's just a mental thing.I'm sure you know that anything under 5 mgms is just psychological?
