Open Enrollment 2015

For Hookistani-Americans:

How's Open Enrollment 2015 treating you? Have you checked out your insurance exchange yet? Seeking coverage outside the exchange? Re-up with an employer? Dat Medicaid expansion? Sacking it up and paying a penalty?

I think there are only one or two hookans that might qualify for Medicare, for those that do: are you on an Advantage plan? Do you have a Medigap policy?

It's the most wonderful time of the year, fellas!

I am glad to give my candid opinions, but please note that I am not qualified to provide any sort of financial, clinical, or insurance navigator advice of any kind. Statements of coverage are only finalized with your specific health plan. Some restrictions may apply.

Re-upped PPO, Dental, and Vision.

Added whole life insurance instead of term life.

I too enjoy a robust PPO with nice add-on coverages. I considered a switch to one of several cheaper and less generous plans this year, but decided to stay where I am because I'm comfortable. And because I don't think my GP participated in the best of the 2nd-bests, and I really like my GP.

Komp makes a good point, I am interested if people who might be participating in the exchanges have opted for dental. Don't think the premium cost was much more than no-dental.

I get a decent Kaiser plan through work for a reasonable rate.

Just so you know, it was going to come to something like this eventually. It just costs the system too much money for there to be a significant non-participating population. "Fuck Obama" only because he was the guy unlucky enough to have to pull the trigger on this thing is one way of understanding it, I guess.

You know, it does kinda suck that we all call it Obamacare now.

It was the Affordable Care Act, but just shows how fucking strong GOP branding is to have even Obama call it obamacare now.

But, i guess in the long run it'll probably be a good thing branded to him.

There is no fine unless you make something like 15K/year for a single person. Try 'obamacare fine' in google. I just looked it up yesterday coincidentally.

And shadow, the fine comes out of your tax rebate (if you get one). There are no charges/jail for those who don't comply. You guys should try reading some day.

I plan on making substantially more than 15K a year. If I wasn't I wouldn't be in school.
