Diet Soda

I know diet soda is bad for you, and that I drink a metric fuck ton of the stuff, and that that is bad. However, I've never been inclined toward thinking it caused ailments like chronic fatigue, multiple chemical sensitivity, or other issues I generally generalize as hypochondriacal conditions.

However!

I recently cut down my intake of soda by about a third. Not a huge reduction, but significant. And what I've experienced is a sudden change in two areas: energy and mood.

My work day is two hours of biking (to and from work) and 8 or more hours, on my feet, lifting heavy totes and counting a shitload of Apple crap. It's an ass kicker, and I felt ass kicked most of the time. Sometimes, I literally felt like I was dragging myself to work each morning. Since I cut down on the soda, however, I feel much better. I'm still tired, but not all bone-ass-weary like before.

Also, it's a pretty hostile environment for a anxiety-prone fellow such as myself. There's an unending cacophony of forklift horns, backing tones, buzzers, and all that shit. Under normal circumstances, even with ear plugs in, it drives me batshit, especially as the day wears on. Since cutting the soda, however, it doesn't fuck with me nearly as much, and I tend to feel myself on a more even keel.

Now, it all could be a coincidence. Time will tell. Still, I did find the change uncanny. I'm endeavoring to cut my soda consumption down a bit more, too, so we'll see how it goes. Before this, I was dreading the long hours of the holidays, but now, I don't know. I'm kinda thinking it would be fun to push myself again.

I thought that too ^

But I imagine there is plenty of things in diet soda that could be bad for you in plenty of ways.

Best thing I ever did was cut caffeine out of my diet.

I don't think so, because I replaced some of my soda with tea, which has a bit more caffeine than soda.

I backed off on diet colas a few weeks back, I dont sleep as well now. Go figure.

(I want a pop, pop, pop, I want a Shasta!) (Diet Shasta is my prefered poison).

Still drink 3 or 4 times more coffee than cola.

I know, but it's one thing to say "Dude, that's really bad for you" and another to actually experience your own issues with it. I mean, EVERYTHING is super bad for you, and we're all on the brink of annihilation, if you listen to the media/internet. It's easy to just tune it out if it doesn't actually affect you.

I didn't get cancer so it must be good for me to put down a case of artificial sweetener and caffeine every day...

It takes me almost 5 minutes to make a coffee at work.. Between the sugar and the creamers I have to go through.
They make me get my sugar at the main source.. The large box. And I now have to bring my own creamer.

I stopped drinking Coke after I noticed I was becoming a Coke addict.

Caffeine gets me a Rollin!

I need help.

What in the hell are you all doing, calling it "pop". That's a mark of shame where I'm from.

Only two of us said pop, and I'm Canadian and that's what we usually call it.

But I mean, yeah you're right it should be called soda everywhere. 'Pop' doesn't really make sense. Soda makes sense.

Christ man you're right I'm actually feeling pretty shitty about all this .

The bubbles.. They "pop"..

Soda.. Where does that come into play..

Hmm soda.. Sounds so dry and pasty.
