I already know why, they don't want to report any good news about marijuana!
Call a talk radio show, and record the call!, I'd really love to hear it on yahooka

Sexy names & hookahs, but no booze

Sexy names & hookahs, but no booze

Some oppose license for lounge

BY Nicholas Hirshon

WHAT WERE they smoking?

A Queens hookah lounge that promotes naughty-named tobacco blends such as "Erotic Sex" and "G Spot" in bonglike pipes has jeopardized its bid for a beer-and-wine license by being so risque, locals said.

GiGi Malek, co-owner of the trendy Hookahloopa Lounge in Forest Hills, insisted the Metropolitan Ave. hot spot - open till 2 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays - is safe and clean, and respects its proximity to homes.

But concerned locals - caught off guard by the innuendo-filled menu - want Community Board 6 to investigate and possibly craft a resolution urging the state Liquor Authority to deny a license.

"It's practically saying to kids, 'This is fine; this is a big joke,'" said community board member Barbara Stuchinski, also president of the Forest Hills Community and Civic Association.

J.R. Nocerino, girls softball director for the Forest Hills Little League, interpreted the provocative labels - which also include "All Night Long," "Sex in the Woods" and "XXX" - as ways to lure underage teens.

"We're trying to lean toward a society of not having our kids smoke anything," he said. "It's like a magnet. It's like a hangout - a smoking hangout, no less."

Malek, 44, stressed that just 10 of her 55 hookah flavors carry sexually themed names, whereas most are fruity like double apple, peach nectar and vino grape. She also said she IDs all customers, most of whom are middle-aged.

Still, the board's consumer affairs committee chairman, David Schantz, vowed to hold a hearing on Hookah-loopa if he hears complaints, and said he would send concerns to the Liquor Authority.

"We take into consideration the views of the community board strongly," said authority spokesman Michael Smith.

Board member Lynn Schulman, who sits on the consumer affairs committee, wondered if the lounge tried "to sneak into the community" by opening in late December before contacting local civic leaders.

Malek countered that she ran a nearby antique shop from 1992 to 1996, and talked to the Metro-Forest Chamber of Commerce before opening Hookahloopa.

"She really is just a family person from the neighborhood," said Chamber President Rosemarie Iacovone.

Maybe it's not in the news because he didn't really say anything.

As a matter of fact, compared to his previous statements that, "MARIJUANA IS NOT A DRUG, IT'S A PLANT," this statement is rather non-committal at best.

What the fuck? I don't care what this busy body 'thinks' it all means, if the ID is checked at the door and the kids can't get in, who gives a rats ass what she names her stuff.

Holy shit...

Someone show me how to make this kind of connection. I mean I just don't fucking get it.

So the fact that shisha isn't actually 'smoked' would be completely lost here right?
