Really, we all need to vote and spread the word. Post that link on your facebook and twitter and all those other networking sites! This is our chance to get them to really consider making it legal!

What you are really voting for is government control.
Now, let's see, they have been at this for a while, and how is them controlling everything working out? Duh. I say don't vote...

^ @Anonymous and OldMan
Nowhere does it mention government control, in fact it is all about less government control. You are voting for an end to unjust arrests, ending destruction of lives stemming from such arrests via removal of civil liberties and reduction of living standards, re-appropriation of wasted tax dollars and public funding so those dollars can be used in a constructive way, focusing police efforts on real crimes that have actual victims, emptying our prisons of non-violent cannabis users, removing the incentive/justification for search and seizure for marijuana possession, a new and viable industry in hemp products such as oil, plastics, fibers, textiles, food, renewable energy, paper, and medicine, a revival of our countries marginalized farmlands through introduction of a new high demand cash crop in the legitimate tax paying market, removing the governments hands from your body and most importantly in our Democracy restoring the true freedom of choice. Considering all that, the phrase, "I say don't vote" sounds like a trite statement. It sounds to me like you didn't do your homework.

BWHAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! You actually think that they will "legalize" it, and not "control" it. Wow, I needed a good laugh to start off the day! Assume all you want. I have nothing to prove to you.

We've already been through this, and we've already been denied by the President with no reason, just a "because"... so I doubt it will work but I'm willing to try.

@Bearsy All we can do is try. I was totally frustrated the first time around too but that doesn't mean we should give up. The idea is to continue putting our demand for common sense marijuana policies in their face. We do that by re-voting it into first place. If they deny it a second time we put it in first place for a third. Eventually they will be forced to listen.
@Anon....thanks for reminding me exactly why I don't come to these threads much anymore. Now go vegetate on your couch and watch Talk Soup on E! while the grown-ups are talking. I'm sure you haven't had your fix of Brittney Spears and Paris Hilton gossip yet today.

See, Lee, now, the people have control of MJ. Voting to legalize it means they DON'T have control of it anymore. So maybe you should go peddle your dependency on government somewhere else? Every vote DOESN'T COUNT.

And again Anon, your logic is skewed.
You are obsessed with ending "government control" but you fail to realize that the government is controlling things much bigger than your weed through prohibition. They are controlling your lifestyle by limiting and denying your civil liberties granted to you by the constitution, and they are attempting to control your personal morality. Don't believe me? Go out in public with an "illegal" bag of weed and a let a cop know you are in posession of it. Then have fun losing your ability to vote, find a job, get a loan, climb out of debt, or maintain healthy relations with family and friends because you are too busy making parole, working under enforced community service, or flat out locked up behind bars. Once it is legal the people will have the same level of "control" of cannabis that they have now. Under legalization you will certainly be able to continue growing your own or getting it from whoever you want, industrial or private. The key here is you will be able to do so without the punitive threats of our restrictive, quasi fascist government.

Anonymous, do you want the cartels and gangs to continue having all the power? It sounds like you're drug dealer and therefore benefit from it remaining illegal.

Now you can "rationalize" what I have written to mean anything you want, but I assure you, I have no belief that anything called a "government" is real. You are the one with that paradigm, not me. So get that straight. Quote:

Anon,
no vote=silence=no action=no resistance/no involvement=lack of power=government control voting=action=resist ance/involvement=power=vo ter control. I can't spell it out any more clearly than that. Please go do some homework. Here are some starting points. Put these into a search engine; Jack Herer Harry Anslinger William Randolph Hearst The Marijuana Tax Act Mayor LaGuardia Nixon's Shafer Commission Watch these videos, you can find most of them on youtube American Drug War Grass In Pot We Trust There is also some good information here Erowid
