Cool NJ Guv Christ Christie, 48, Hospitalized for Asthma/Obesity => Cannabis

New Jersey Gov. Christie Released From Hospital After Asthma Treatment
Christie, 48, has been quite open about his struggle to lose weight. Despite that, he is widely seen as a potential GOP vice-presidential nominee.

Quote:
"If he has a history of asthma, with the weather that we've been having, of course with his work schedule, it's not unusual to get an asthma attack, One would assume that he would take medication to make sure that he doesn't have any kind of attack."
~ Dr. Manny Alvarez,
the head of Fox News' medical team
Marijuana Stalling Over
After months of delay, Gov. Christie has finally made the correct decision: to stop stalling implementation of the state's medical marijuana law.

NJ Governor Gives Okay To MMJ Program
Christie's decision should bring an end to nearly 18 months of delayed implementation of the program, which was signed into law by his predecessor, Gov. Jon Corzine (D).

N.J. & R.I. Are In Process of Getting Dispensaries
Both states' programs have been in holding patterns for weeks because of potential federal legal objections, but that logjam appears to have been broken, at least in New Jersey.

Quote:
"Marijuana, in its natural form,
is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man."
-- DEA Administrative Law Judge Francis Young
Docket No. 86-22. 1988.

* The Cannabinergic System as a Target for Anti-inflammatory Therapies
* Acute and subacute bronchial effects of oral cannabinoids.
* Comparison of bronchial effects of nabilone and terbutaline
* Bronchial effects of aerosolized delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol
* Bronchodilator effect of delta1-tetrahydrocannabinol administered by aerosol
* Effects of smoked marijuana in experimentally induced asthma.
* Marijuana and oral delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol on specific airway conductance
* New Synthetic Delta-9-THC Inhaler Offers Safe, Rapid Delivery
* Smoked marijuana and oral delta-9-THC on specific airway conductance in asthmatic subjects
* ANALGESIC AND ANTIINFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY OF CONSTITUENTS OF CANNABIS SATIVA L.

The use of cannabis for asthmatics goes back thousands of years in literature. American doctors of the last century wrote in medical papers that asthma sufferers of the world would “bless” Indian Hemp (cannabis) all their lives.

Quote:
“Taking a hit of marijuana has been known to stop a full blown asthma attack.”
~ Jack Herer,
(Personal communication with Dr. Donald Tashkin,
December 12, 1989, and December 1, 1997.)

Switching cotton fields to hemp fields would improve: the quality of our soil, the durability of our clothes, the safety of our ground source water, the quality of our air, and the preservation of forests cut for paper (not to mention saving hundreds of thousands of lives prematurely ended by disease caused by pollution)

The Public Health Impact Of Air Pollution In New Jersey

Air pollution takes a significant toll on human health in New Jersey every year, shortening thousands of lives and sending thousands of people to area hospitals.

Within New Jersey in 1999, nearly 60% of soot emissions and almost half of smog-forming emissions came from on-road and off-road mobile sources like cars, trucks, and construction equipment. Industrial facilities and emissions from consumer products like paint accounted for the remainder. Out-of-state pollution sources also contribute significantly to the overall problem.
