A most egregious example of the need for DC Statehood can be found in what happened after the 1998 DC ballot initiative election day when exit polls indicated clearly the (I-59) initiative would pass legalizing medical marijuana for DC but was challenged at the very ballot box by the Congress in control of DC which under Bob Barr's leadership prevented the Fed from spending the less than $5 estimated cost to push the button to tally the ballots so the vote could be recognized and the measure passed.

This matter has many related issues of national concern as well so these last days before DC primary would be ideal time for Dennis Kucinich to issue a statement to the press about this matter and his view on its implications not only for DC and need for Statehood but also on national related issues, especially given his stated position favoring medical marijuana law changes at the federal level to give states these rights.

This is a wide public interest news angle that will help Dennis in the DC primary Tuesday if an article about his statement appears in DC news media Monday.

If Dennis voted against Bob Barr on that one he can explain why. If he voted with Bob Barr on that one he can use this as a good chance to clarify the issue.
