[QUOTE]two teenagers were charged with possesion of a controlled dangerous subsstance, intent to distribute a controlled dangerous subsatance, robbery, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest.
But the two, Jalal anderson, 14, a freshman at Woodrow Wilson High School, and Kameron Harmon, 15, a sophmore at Camden High, say they were walking home from a corner store at Broadway and Berkley Street, where they had purchased snacks, when the undercover officer approached them about 8:30 p.m. Harmon said he thought he and his friend were confronted by a drug addict(they were). "he was acting like a fiend", (he was a fiend) Harmon said, using a slang term for a cocain addict. He asked if ' you all have ready rocks?' " We told him we don't sell drugs. I picked up some rocks off the ground and said "Here are some rocks,' and put them in his hand." "That's when he pulled out a gun and pointed it at us. I ran. I thought he was a fiend with a gun." he was In the insuing arrest, Harmon said, he was punched and kicked.child battery and assault Medical reports of his treatment Jan. 18th at two hospitals indicate he suffered a broken nose, abrasions and a laceration to the scalp that required three metal staples to close. Anderson suffered a broken nose, a broken finger and abrasions, the medical reprts show. Lynch(police department spokesman) said no weapons or drugs were found on the teenagers, but said charges can be leveled based on an attempt to sell "purported drug , even if it's conterfiet." Valerie Anderson, Jalal's mother, said that when she looked out at all the commotion near her house she saw officers with fatigues and black boots storm trooprs, thier faces covered with ski masks, surrounding her son. She said her son was handcuffed and on his knees but was still being punched and kicked. Hassan, Harmon's mother, contends her son's only offense was to make an undercover agent angry. Hassain and Anderson filed complaints with the Internal Affairs Division of the same agency charged with carrying out the brutality on Jan 18th. |
