Well thats good news because I was starting to geek out there for a second. I'm glad Pickle posted that pic so I know what to look for at Radio Shack. Thanks for the definitive answer there San Diego.

yeah that photo pickle posted is one, but the one i have is a radioshack brand. Same thing as that, just slightly different. Would work jus as well. Looks like youll have a nice harvest.... One tip i would give for the next go around....All those 'popcorn buds', that are on the lower sites for each branch...Well after those little nuggets dry, they will be like one bowl...Instead of letting those little guys grow out, snip em off after like 2 weeks of flowering....So basically you pick off all the little leaf/pistil budsites...Just leaving the top few buds per branch/shute... All the energy that would go to make those useless buds, will now go to your tops, and you will be blessed with denser/fatter/taller colas.
Thats just my style of doing things, doesnt mean its the right way...But i have been able to notice the positive results |

I'm going to go get a scope this weekend then. Whats crazy now is on one plant I have some of my larger fan leaves turning light green, then yellow and then finally falling off. The odd thing is it seems like the pistils on the buds of this plant are in overdrive and the buds look great and seem to be growing rapidly. What the hell is that all about? I did water with ferts the day before yesterday. Maybe I've been under fertilizing? The other plants seem to be about to follow this same pattern because I see fresh new white pistils starting to grow and replacing a lot of the brown pistils I was just talking about. Here are some pics of the buds today and the fan leaves that are light green.

its totally natural for the fan leaves to start losing color and yellowing/ eventually falling off. Its taking nitrogen from the fan leaves and feeding it to the buds... I would be getting ready to stop any feeding of nutes if i were you, and begin to flush (just fresh water)...From the looks of it you have roughly 2 weeks, maybe a lil longer to go...

I am using FoxFarm products and they say I can use up to the day of harvest, is this right or not? I had guesstimated my harvest day to be around Feb. 7th so you were pretty much on the money with the time. One of my Widows has a bunch of healthy stark white pistils covering its buds while on the other end of the spectrum I have one Widow covered in mostly brown pistils with far fewer white pistils. The other 3 Widows are a good mix between the two. I have upper fan leaves slightly curling up with others curling downwards. What to do? Here are some pics of what I'm talking about. 1.)Pretty white bud 2.)Not so pretty bud 3.)Leaves curling downward 4.)All the bud

everything is looking great. I wouldnt worry about those few browning pistils, thats perfectly normal. You should post pics in a week or so... From the look of that first pic there is still a ways to go...

Ok, so I checked some of the trichomes on the one plant with mostly brown pistils and the trichome heads were slightly white-ish and none were amber in color. So beginning week 7 of flowering tomorrow I still have one to three weeks left in flowering. I'm wondering if these grow bags I put them in are actually slowing growth. I cut several slits on the bottoms of the bags, about eight per bag, but I'm wondering if I need actual "holes" to allow oxygen in near the roots. I'm only able to water every 3rd day which, ferting every other watering as directed, makes me feel I'm not getting enough nutes to the plants and suffocating the roots. I do make sure the top 2 inches of soil are dry before watering though, which has probably kept me from drowning my beauties. Better yet, I'm probably wrong about it all and just wasted 20 minutes of my life typing because I type like a chimpanzee!

Great Zombie Jesus!
$10 at radioshack is the best money I've spent in ages. I bought one of those handheld microscopes and just spent like 2 hours squinting at my triches. Fucking amazing! And yeah I'll never wonder when it's time to harvest again as long as I have some triple A battries around to power the damn thing. Thanks so much for plugging those things kush and pickle. |

I'm pretty sure its the grow bags that have been the problem now. I haven't watered since this past wed. and the soil I can feel through the slits in the bottom of the bags is still pretty moist. Im wondering if too much water in the roots can cause the plants buds to stop growing prematurely. I checked the trichome heads on the plant with all of the brown pistils with the mini-scope and they are definitely cloudy. BUT, it seems since I haven't watered that more white pistils are showing up here and there. I would hate to chop her down when it isn't time. What to do?

Im not an expert but if it was me i wouldent worry about the pistils hardly at all. Id worry about the trics more. Once theyve turned cloudy, and a few amber brown ones on the majority of the plant (tho ive heard different things about trichomes color having an impact on type of high) id cut her down and hang her to dry, if youre worried about the pistol color theyll turn brown as they dry. Just my opinon

As you can see there are a lot more pistils starting to pop out all over all of the plants. I really do think the Grow Bags were holding my plants growth back. Probably user error, but I dont think I'll be using them again unless I have too. Since I didn't water them I think the roots got some oxygen and I definitely can see the difference in the buds. New pistils are busting out everywhere.
Here's my predicament though, I had thought I should be harvesting around the 7th of this month. AND I have 4 super skunks that are in week 2 of flowering that are getting to big for my veg. closet and really need to get under my HPS. AND I have company coming in town around the 14th and I won't have time to do a lot with my grow when they get here. Would it be stupid to harvest a little early? I know I will miss out on yield and potency, but I don't know what else to do. The 7th will be week 9 of flowering.

Ouch. I harvested the day before yesterday because I started to see amber trich's on the plants. I was trimming the buds and had them sprawled out over a window screen when something caught my eye today. There in front of me, plain as day, the last thing I thought I would see, a seed. Ouch. I'm baffled. I was so very careful in removing the males as quickly as possible. One possibility is when I cut out the males of my SuperSkunk/2nd grow I threw them in a garbage bag which I didnt take out until three days later. But they had only shown sex for 2 days and were hardly ready to release pollen when cut. I have only seen 2 seeds and I squeezed some of the buds and can't find anymore right now. I did find one small bud that might have one or two in it though. WTF?!!?!

Ok, here are the pics of the final product. Out of all of this I only found about ten seeds, which kind of confuses me but I'm not complaining.
