Starting 5 seeds of a strain called Crippy #3 bought by a friend off C-bay years ago from a guy called Kentucky. It will be done using a yellow cloth whetted with warm water and placed in a zip lok baggie.
If I get any that germinate they will be put in cups of perlite and peat moss. It is planned to grow organically being under compact floros for vegitative growth and a 600 watt hps for flowering.

Them seeds look healthy.

Seeds bought years ago.............how were they stored??

Anyone else use old seeds and how did you store them??

The Mad Russian 11-12-2008 08:39 AM

The seeds were in fact healthy. "Crippy bud was sold at c-bay by a fella named Kentucky. A great producer of the most earthy tasting buds i've ever smoked. ""It's indica dom and scrog it for best results."
That is all the information I have found about thiese seeds.
Storage? A small plastic baggy that they came in and a drawer. I have had them only 3 years but they were given to me by a person that had them for a couple more years. I'm estimating them to be from 2000-2002.

Kept in a drawer.....?

idk....

start em, and if they pop, they pop. Otherwise order some fresh ones.

I ve germinated 5 and 6 yo seeds, but i keep em refrigerated and sealed.

Dandaweedman 11-12-2008 10:54 AM

refrigerated and sealed? My darn kids would eat em. ;)
I have mine in either envelopes rolled and sealed or in the little plastic baggies in a tin. No problems even with the 3 year old seeds so far. I have been sent seeds that were over 16 years old in a little breeder baggie and they worked a dream (williams wonder for one)

Da wife even said, "it would be the most expensive ground pepper ever"

The Mad Russian 11-13-2008 08:51 AM

100% popped. I bought some beer cups and put them in a cabinet yesterday under 3 cfl lightbulbs.

How do I get the pictures to show inline?

Here is a picture of the other strain I am going to be growing. Black russian x romulan. The Black russian was an f3 of nebus black and the romulan was from a rerelease of federation seeds.

A crippy after 2 days in a warm wet place. This one was the slowest to come out of hiding.

Here is what I saw when I opened up the yellow cloth for a look at the black russian x romulan.

I keep seeds in the fridge. The theory is not particularly that they keep better but when I germ them there`s more of a change in temps so they think "Ah Spring is here".
It`s only a theory but it seems to work for me.

I got like 7 coming up nice, 2 that I think I pinched the heads off accidentally oops and 2 aren't showing. Its pretty even tween the crippy and the brxr for seeds that showed heads above water so to say

Heres a funny one

The Mad Russian 11-16-2008 07:19 PM

All but 2 have been outgoing enough to pop their heads up. Operator malfunktion, I was gently moving soil to see wtf and mighta take a couple of heads off with the big fingers.
More in yellow cloths anyways. A couple more strains and a couple more seeds of the brxr (3)

OldMan&TheWeed 11-16-2008 07:24 PM

Beautiful.

With digital photography shots that would once have been impossible without expensive equipment and special training are now commonplace.

Good luck!

Good job on the pictures. I look forward to seeing those bad boys grow up. Keep us posted!

Thank you for the nice words. Digital is a veritable boon for this hobby ;) Here are a couple of shots of some popcorn from the last brxr harvested today.
