Apollo 11 continued...

And for the 3rd wave I've gone hyrdo! I love it too. The 2nd wave of course is in flower right now and will be the last dirt grow I do for the imediate future. I am very surprised at how easy it is. You can do a pretty nice setup with cheap shit from wal mart haha.

In the pics:
Sugarblossom has returned. Along with 2 bigger apollos and 4 new clones.

It looks like he rigged the veg setup himself out of some tubs and tinfoil.

I gotta say it looks pro for being home made. Top notch.

Ill deff bet taking a page out of that book one day.

haha my containers are all from walmart. just the rubbermaid ones that come in all shapes and sizes. theyre a couple bucks a piece. A roll of aluminum tape from lowes for 8$ or so. I did all you see ( and some you don't) with one roll with tape left over. That tape is great for making rooms light tight too. very sticky.
Head on over to walmarts aquarium department for all your air tubes/pumps/fittings/stones. I would recommend going to your local hydro shop if you have one to buy a few of those things.
I bought a bigger air pump for about 70$ but its enough to run everything I want. The walmart ones are good for 2 small setups or one plant in a 5 gal bucket. give or take haha.
I bought air stones at the hydro shop cause they are waaay bigger and last longer. they're only a buck or 2 apiece.
Buy some black tubing (walmart only has clear). 1/4 inch size. lowes or hydro shop has it. I use black tube from the top of my tank to the airstone. You'll notice that the clear tubes running to the tanks stop at a check valve. from the check valve on is black tube. The reason being that you get a fiber optic effect through the clear tubing. Light will transfer through the tubing and help algae to get a foot hold. black tubing prevents this shit from happening.
thats about it. I had the 2 bigger plants in the small tank running on just walmart bought shit for a week and got very good results so don't count it out if you don't have a hyrdo shop handy. a lot of it could be found at a pet store too.

Thanks for the nice words guys haha

bit of an update here. this set of pics was taken roughly one week after the first set ^.
The sugarblossom has recovered (originally in dirt) and is taking off. 2 are showing preflower already which is a little disheartening because one appears to be male (motherfuck). I'm gonna be pissed if I don't get atleast one female. The leaves are cool looking dammit
the clones are starting to grow in earnest now. I haven't decided how long I'm going to veg yet. I've put one of the hydro clones in to flower and will use its rate of growth to decide on when the rest on the clones go in. Note in the flower cab pics; the ones in soil are roughly 6 weeks old while the hyrdo plant is only 2 weeks old! and that ladies and gentlemen is why dirt is out the window for the time being haha.

Tell me your not gone yet bro! I've got a high Ph problem and I'm not using the coffee ground method again. Got any ideas on how I can get it down to an acceptable level? I'm at 7.5 now and my babes are yellowing. HELP!!

Back again

Hey all, I'm back again and still growing haha. I've had many a trial and tribulation since we last spoke and I'd like to give an update on my hydro setup. Can't get into a whole lot of detail this morning, but I'll be back on later in the day.

Ok clearly still growing with the DWC. I love it because its simple cheap and effective. It can get a bit boring if you have a mind to build things yourself. I've been thinking about trying a new system.. Anybody have better luck with a different hydro setup?

Plant wise I still have the apollo 11 and I still love it. The sugarblossom got the ax, it was just too picky. It seemed to catch everything. When the temp started dropping at the beginning of winter the SBs all got bad powdery mildew. Serenade and a baking soda mix will fight it off tho. Then it fell prey to fungas gnat which I've just now pretty much gotten rid of. Azamax is great for bugs people. Once I got rid of the strain problems started clearing up.
Got some new strains in: Island sweet skunk, shiskaberry, OG kush, and burmese kush. Looking foward to seeing what they produce.
