To know oneself is to know that higher power...introspectio n is a barometer of the soul, I think. I don't think that higher power will be expecting hero worship, as much as respect for oneself and a sincere desire to seek the knowledge of the truth and betterment of all.

Interesting thought... To know oneself is to know the higher power. I like the idea of not worshipping but just showing respect to the higher power. Why would the creator or controller need worshipping? By believing this all you need to have a relationship with the higher power is inside you and your thoughts but how would one go about building a relationship? Introspective? Meditation? Prayer?

The more comfortable you are with yourself, the further you will go in the search for the truth. I think that prayer is just a positive re-enforcement in action. Reminding yourself everytime you pray, that there is a higher power, that It is a good thing and somehow responsible for your existence. You are really "praying" to yourself so you don't forget and stray off on some tangent that takes you further away from the truth instead of bringing you closer, as one with it If you literally take the stand we were created in The powers image and likeness, then, one more piece of the puzzle has fallen into place. You accept that much as fact. The Power that be, on the other hand, nurtures that line of thought along, knowing full well it will lead to an Epiphany moment somewhere down the line.It's like, WHEN?
Hurtling you towards that ultimate moment you join up and become one with that power. After the refining process gets you to that tolerable limit and allows you to be purified energy enough to be acceptable to join the main body of energy.
Prayer is the conveyor belt that keeps us on track. It's not so much of a communication tool, as, I feel, a progress report teling you how this subject is progressing..what skills, shortcomings, flaws, etc. need to be honed or worked on to make a purer energy to make the host stronger.

When you pray who do you address god or yourself? If you address yourself then would it be any different than meditation without speaking?

I was just thinking about this on the drive into work. I had a big problem with praying or speaking to a "god", theres something about that society-conditioned word that I have an aversion to. But its the only word I can find to encompass that feeling. And its just a word, its what I envision behind it that means something. I know praying to myself is correct but I feel slightly odd doing that as well (almost ungrateful), since while I believe in Unity and Oneness, I also believe in the degrees of Seperation that Creation entails (Trinity and such). I recently started praying to “The Light” since Light is really what it all is (Love), but I also feel I have a few select guides with me, helping me out. Feels like the closest friends I’ve ever had really. But I do not know their names so I can’t address them as such. I also refer to it all as “You” since I know its a personal Love directed at me as well. I don’t know, that’s been a major hang up for me in my Trust and progression which I hope to get resolved quite soon.

All I am really trying to do is face Myself and expose all Darkness to Light (truth). I know that my actions are made in tandem with this Light and Love and I know that this is a mutual relationship...I continually give Love and thus continually recieve it.

Maybe prayer is just a way to acknowledge the fact you know there is something else, and accept it as such. Whether or not you address God- is irrelevant, as far as I'm concerned...we are the product of his creation, all's it is is saying thanks. for the opportunity to be....Meditation is different.
It's a spiritual voyage of self discovery, to me anyway.

I believe that all forms of religion and spirituality are just metaphor. Each is a way to get us in touch with the mystical, the sense of wonder and greatness. I don't care if its accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior, having a meditation induced Unity experience, or speaking in tongues; it all comes down to the same experience. So, whatever attracts you, be it Eastern Religions, Wicca, Presbyterianism, whatever, explore that thing, and it will bring you closer to God.

By choice. Choose to create a relationship with yourself and sooner or later you will feel it. Remember that sudden internal talk where you said "I'm dreaming!" but you know you said nothing nor heard anything?

Wow.. I have never pondered on lucid dreaming having anything to do with listening to God. I have thought about it showing your character to yourself. Why do you think that is Gods voice?

Think about this....showing your character to yourself is the essence of "self awareness" or becoming self-aware. What provides more 'self awareness' to yourself than knowing you are Dreaming?

When I pray, I address higher power(s)... sometimes specifically and sometimes generally. The ego can sometimes be a complete maniac but there are times that letting go can be so damn comforting and then there are those times when you are given proof that something is looking after ya. It could be the 'self' but definately a different dimension of the self (soul).... something apart from the mind and the brain. I do not think I am the same as those I am addressing but connected to them... they, my friends.
