You are here, on Earth, because you choose to be. But no one can tell you specifically what you are here for, because we all choose to come here for different reasons. Earth is a tool for us as learning beings. You are not what you associate your concsiousness with on a day-to-day basis. you are much more than a body and a name. But for the purposes of our experience, you choose to forget where you came from. This is a choice, not something that was forced upon you, as everything in reality is a choice. You create your every waking second and in choosing to come here on earth you choose to create according to some "laws", only they arent laws, just mass agreements for the purpose of our experience.
Anyway, your basic purpose is to create, as all consciousness has a desire to experience and create and further itself. you express these subjective desires objectively through Thought and your Thinking Processes, which your body then expresses through yet more objectivity in various behaviors. So in essence you are here to create objectivity out of subjectivity. Does that work? I feel that explains most of the "how", as the "why" of life is different to each of us. but its hard to get on with the "whys" if you dont know the "hows" just like it might be hard for a tennis player to win a game without knowing the rules. On some level we all understand the rules of the game but as science progresses we are set to learn more about this game than simple subjectivity. we are going to bring our knowing into an objective level, meaning we will all know, objectively, all these things i have said. for instance- we all know that it is possible to imagine a song in your head. but before walkmans, we didnt know that we could listen to real, physical music anywhere we went. so, through science, we researched the belief constructs attached to sound and how it enters our body and how we might emulate sound with technology, and now voila, science has enabled every person with a walkman or discman or iPod to listen to real physical music ANYWHERE. This is just one example of our subjective knowledge being brought out into objective existence. We could have simply imagined a song being played in our head, as we know on a subjective level that we can listen to music any time we want. But through science we are now really able to listen to music any time we want. does that make sense to anyone? now just like we created discmans to listen to music anywhere we go, we are going to create some type of object that will let us explore consciousness in ways we never thought possible. Right now you have the ability to go lay down in bed and do anything you want. you can dream about having sex with marilyn monroe, you can have a lucid dream about fighting zombies, etc etc. science will bring this subjective knowledge into objective reality in time- so we will consciously be able to go have sex with anyone we want and all that stuff. the neat thing is, as we do this, we realize all these belief systems we have built and we negate them. We have sex with celebrities becuase we BELIEVE it will somehow be better. We murder people because we BELIEVE we are causing them pain, when in actuality "murder" is an agreement between two people. Science will show us all this and more. Yay for science. the times they are a-changin. But dont take my word for it, just look around the world and see what happens with this whole science and technology thing. edit- May i add that there is no bias in consciousness. Any bias is a direct result of our interaction with our belief systems, such as the beliefs of "right and wrong" or "true and false." A murder is no better or worse than a priest, we only percieve a difference through our beliefs, and everything ive experienced tells me that in the next 100 years our major action will encompass not only recognizing belief constructs, but neutralizing them.

When I was a kid I used to wonder how I came to be. I dont meen "sex" but how was it that my mind was in my body and how i was able to be who i was. I couldnt really comprehend it as me being 5-7. I just found it odd how I just became who i was. Always wondered if I could ever be a different person or something like that when i was young. Like if my parents did have a girl if i would think just like me? It was also weird just becomming. From not remeber anything for the first couple years to actually understand logic is a weird thing to know as a child. Most don't care tho, Cause cartoons are on.

Perhaps the reason we don't have "memories" of what it was like when we were little infants is because we haven't "agreed" yet to this world. We're still kind of in limbo. Then, once we clue in (personally I think this is when we realize that the sounds the big people are making is a language and not just sounds) we become part of the collective consciousness and express it through language...IE first words. Thoughts? |

you are partially right. when a person is born they are in a state of newness. that same newness that you feel when you lucid dream, or when you trip on drugs, which is actually our "normal" state of being. But thats a different topic. Anyway my main point is it takes some time to get used to objective reality, just like it will take time after physical life to get used to living in SUBjective reality. So for the first 6-8 years of your life you encounter "bleed throughs" from subjective reality. If you've ever taken any hallucinogenic drugs im sure youve encoutered these bleed-throughs, as we incorrectly consider them to be hallucinations, or "not real."
Basically you are living in a dreamworld the first 6-8 years of life. (very basically- the action of "dreaming" and the belief constructs involved are in fact very different from the action of "growing up" and those constructs) Which is why people taking psychedelics say "they feel like children" well, thats because the last time they gave themselves objective knowing of subjective reality was when they were kids with these bleed throughs. So im sure the fact that we dont remember our dreams very well and the fact that we dont remember our childhoods very well are related, as being a child is more similar to living in a dream than we think. Theres also the whole natural memory thing where you forget more as you get older and you only remember events that you have tied emotional energy to. Anyways your memories havent gone anywhere- they are still exactly where you put them waiting for you to access. We offer ourselves imagery of memories to invoke a specific reaction, so obviously if you dont remember something you arent requiring that action. its all your choice

Sorry waves but I have to disagree. I dont think we are still in a dream world at 6-8 years old. We've come to the conculsion that we are alive by that time and are trying to figure out why. I have never felt like a kid under the influence of hallucinegens but I've thought a lot about my childhood on them. I think the reason is why is becasuse if you look at it, we are still devoloping at 1-3 years old. meaning our brain is peicing together what we see and isnt actually operating on a need to know basis but merely a I have to live basis. Its main functions arre all that it is doing. Tho along the way it is gathering information to be used to process human life. Our first words are based on us hearing these things over and over again, repetition. If you spoke a different language say you made one up,,,,gibberish. Then I am sure your kid would say those first words when he grew up. It's what has been imprinted into his memory. Also many parents beleive their childs first words are DaDa,Mama,Papa I was having a discussion about this with my mom the other day(she being a hearing impaired teacher) She said this is mearly a coincidence with the fact that those are being the easiest words to say.
I just cannot seem to see how we are still in a dream world once we "remeber" (6-8) Just does not make sense. We are constently evolving at such a young age. |

So, because we cannot operate on an objective basis like you have learned to do right away, we needed to build a concept that incorporates this period of adjustment. This is "growing up." And likewise we need a concept that incorporates the exit of our perception from this area. So we created "death." Does that make sense?

I don't think its a dream world as a kid, just the fact that we do not know what we do now we tend to make belive a lot. When i dream as an adult I tend to see it as blackness but with me "imagining" things infront of my eyes, I am aware that i am in a dream because the way i perceive things in a dream is not how i percieve things in real life. Meaning, I dont look for my clothes when i wake up think about having a bath and what not. things just tend to happen. I think i've been aware of me being in dreams for most of my life. Never really been like. O this is real life i cant be dreaming.

Plus as a kid did you not try to realize why you became to be. Did you not try to remeber what it was like as a baby?
I guess your right, we are gradually let into this world so we are not shocked at life and at the instant we are let into life we are gradually being prepared to be taken out of it. death, |

Death is the only thing you're gauranteed in this Life so might as well use it as your guide. Its the only Truth we all have AND agree on.

[Large corporate boardroom filled with suited executives]
Exec #1: Item six on the agenda: "The Meaning of Life" Now uh, Harry, you've had some thoughts on this. Exec #2: Yeah, I've had a team working on this over the past few weeks, and what we've come up with can be reduced to two fundamental concepts. One: People aren't wearing enough hats. Two: Matter is energy. In the universe there are many energy fields which we cannot normally perceive. Some energies have a spiritual source which act upon a person's soul. However, this "soul" does not exist ab initio as orthodox Christianity teaches; it has to be brought into existence by a process of guided self-observation. However, this is rarely achieved owing to man's unique ability to be distracted from spiritual matters by everyday trivia. Exec #3: What was that about hats again? Exec #2: Oh, Uh... people aren't wearing enough. Exec #1: Is this true? Exec #4: Certainly. Hat sales have increased but not pari passu, as our research... Exec #3: [Interrupting] "Not wearing enough"? Enough for what purpose? Exec #5: Can I just ask, with reference to your second point, when you say souls don't develop because people become distracted... has anyone noticed that building there before?! Lady Presenter: Well, that's the end of the film. Now, here's the meaning of life. [She is handed a gold-wrapped booklet.] Lady Presenter: Thank you, Brigitte. [She clears her throat, then unwraps and examines the gilt booklet.] Lady Presenter: Well, it's nothing very special. Uh, try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations. And, finally, here are some completely gratuitous pictures of penises to annoy the censors and to hopefully spark some sort of controversy, which, it seems, the only way, these days, to get the jaded, video-sated public off their fucking arses and back in the sodding cinema. Family entertainment, bollocks! What they want is filth! People doing things to each other with chainsaws during Tupperware parties. Babysitters being stabbed with knitting needles by gay presidential candidates. Vigilante groups strangling chickens, armed bands of theatre critics exterminating mutant goats… Where's the fun in pictures? Oh, well, there we are. Here's the theme music. Goodnight. From M.P.'s The Meaning of Life

just because something has continually happened in the past isn't proof that it will always happen in the future.
you know Bertrand Russel's chicken? - every day the famer came in and fed it, every single day the chicken got up knowing that it would be fed, then one day the farmer came in and wrung it's neck. I'm not saying that i don't think people die etc... i think that it's a matter of probability and it's extremely probable that everything you have said is true, but there's no way of being absolutely 100% sure, that's arrogant to assume that we can be completely sure of anything. having said that you can't live your life by that rule "i'm not gonna eat this apple cos i'm not 100% sure it isn't a jug of cyanide" etc... but the only thing we can be certain of is that there is nothing we can be certain of... it all end in paradox and that's why i don't believe in proof.

Don't you think this is somewhat of a problem today? If you believe in some sort of grand, heavenly aferlife aren't you less likely to care about what happens to this planet after you die? For example, many believe that some sort of rapture/world destruction is going to happen in their lifetimes. And it seems that many of these same people turn a blind eye to some of the major problems that this planet is facing, like global warming. In gist, don't these afterlife beliefs help fuel a sense of apathy about doing something postive to help future generations?

How about the concept of a body? Every human on earth has a body, is that some sort of Truth? Or eyesight? I think we can all agree that we all have eyesight, save those that are blind. So should we use eyesight as a guide with which to live life? One of these days people are going to recognize their belief systems. And when that happens the process of death becomes not something negative but something positive, a huge event in your existence. Not a guide or a truth or a punishment or a bad thing but just another part of living life. we all have to agree to certain conditions in order to come here on earth, death is simply one of those conditions, like having to eat and having to have a physical body. They are not Truths at all, they are choices. There is no such thing as Truth, its an idea in our heads. Death is not a truth, it is a choice that to us seems like a truth because every person chooses to experience it. could you guys think of a better process of entering life and exiting life?
